hey everyone may I get a short explanation of how wifi works -

I am asking because my parents want to go on an RV trip this summer and they want to know if they can access the campground's wirless on their laptops, as advertised by the campground site. Is there anything specific they have to do to connect or just set that as the network? Now they also want to know if this

I don't think they should buy that, they already know where the wireless network is, at the camp...if the wireless network card can't find it, then they're out of range...

Amaze is right.

They more than likely won't have WEP enabled on it, so you could probably just get straight on, if they do have WEP enabled, you will have to go and pay for access and just ask where the Access Points are located, and get a location as close as possible.

The WiFi locator is pretty pointless though, Windows usually finds them fine unless they have SSID broadcasting turned off, which they won't because Windows has fits if it's not Not smart enough.
