Default Wireless Router Question - 10-22-2004, 18:16 | posts: 44 | Location: Moncton NB Canada

I just bought a Wireless router (802.11g) and 2 Wireless PCI Adapters (also 802.11g)

I have 2 PCs. I know I have 1 that has to plug in with a cable to setup the router. But after it's setup, can I plug in my DSL modem and the router not wired to any PC after, but with both my 2 PCs wireless, or do you always need 1 PC plugged into the router at all times?

Yup. You can have both PCs wireless. Usually the recommended setup is 1 has to be wired. But you should only wire it if you need to update the firmware of the router.

That's correct, I STRONGLY urge you never to upgrade firmware over a wireless link, always perform it wired to the router.

For some setup tips make sure you read through my sticky.
