Before anyone gets carried away, let's remember that Frostbite 2.0 games will only look good in the hands of a capable developer. For example, Black Box's Need for Speed: The Run absolutely wasted the engine on the PC in my opinion, despite being DX11. It was released with a locked 30 fps framerate cap (now removed via a patch) and no support for MSAA despite the fact that Battlefield 3 uses it.
^ Imo its because of that build-in post aa, it ruins the detail and everything looks so washed out.. Also lightning could have been a little better.
heheh i wonder what is the role of origin in the sudden ea dx11 shift and more support for pc and not for crappy console
Dead Space 2 isn't "more of the same"... The game is vastly improved over the first one in terms of pacing, variety, gunplay/movement... story and characters.
I dont care what engine it uses as long as i get the same kind of tense atmosphere, sick monsters, crazy characters and gory gameplay.
The third person shooting mechanics seems clunky as hell to me. I would play the game if it was first person, but not that horrid third person crap eeleft:
Third person is far better in my opinion, the first person view has been done to death and is over saturating and ruining modern gaming and is a a far more clunky view than third person, personally i blame the Xbox360 for the over abundance of FPS's. True that this series isn't the best to show the agility of third person off, as the gameplay can be slow and clumsy so would suit a first person view, but this game works as it is, it's hardly like your lacking in other FPS games to play.
Not every game is 100% about shooting mechanics though, it might play a big part, but if it was the main thing then the dev's would not of made it third person.
Yeah, judging from the screens it looks as if they are using the same tech they built the first two games on. Which, IMO, is the best path. I know everyone is all about "top end engine tech" and such, but IMO, with Dead Space it's about the art design and style. And Dead Space 2 is still a damn impressive looking game.
