After the the problems XFX cards had with the 7000 series I'm wary to consider them this time around. I have owned XFX products in the past however and found them to work as intended. Lets hope they've upped their game and start releasing quality products again with the new series.

I hope so too, I really like this refreshed GPU, unlocked and should be as fast as a 780 with few tweaks.

    280X is lower clocked.

i am hoping that not only is it as quick as a 7970ghz edition, but quicker :)

really excited to see what the 290x is capable of :D

    it's just a re-branded 7970ghz card, nothing much more.

Looks like the only worthy upgrade for me would be a 290 or 290x. I'll wait to hear more about them, especially the pricing of the 290. I'm guessing around $400-$450.

290X is the only one that interests me, just wanting final confirmed specs, from AMDs mouths, what with the talk of it being only 384bit now.

Seriously? Is it confirmed these GPUs are fully re-branded? Not a slight change in number of transistors, ROPs or whatever? If that's the case, only the 290x is gonna be kinda different with one extra GB VRAM and a little more power...

On the other hand, that's good for us with 7000 series cards. They gonna focus even more time on drivers and generally whatever might concern us. Mantle will be working, too.

    Yes
    7970Ghz = 280X
    7950 with 256bit bus and 2gb ram = 270X

Dont worry about that bull, 4gb cant be done on 384bit bus, it is 512bit but slower because of 260W TDP limit, higher ram bus & speeds and ROPs (thus only 44) raise TDP a lot.
I bet that ram will OC to 1500mhz for sure, if not close to 7Ghz, but TDP will raise accordingly.

Im also only interested in 290X, this XFX fan would look sick on it :D

And apparently it will be max 550-600€.

290 and 290x are new. 260/270/280 both x and no x are rebrands.

Now then... if the 290x is £400, I might just be tempted. That would be a seriously sweet card.

Be a price crash on the 780, and possibly Titan :D

gtx 780 doesn't interest me in the slightest any more. Titan even less, at it's price it's just a bad joke by nvidia. I would consider a 290x, because it could cost me around £250 after selling my 7950. But I'll wait for charts. Still, my overclocked 7950 is faster than what a stock 280x will be, so it seems I'm pretty well off either way. But if 290x comes with a nice boost over 280x, I'll consider it.

This ^, though the 280x at 300$ competing with the 770 at 400$ is good. I just don't understand how or why it would be clocked lower than the Ghz editions. Hell go like the Lightening black edition or whatever it's called and release those things at 1150/1500.

As far as XFX is concerned the hell with them. I went through three 7970s and 6 months of wait before they sent me a new one. They had been sending me refurbs. Lifetime warranty means absolute squat if your product is crap.

My 490euro Palit 780 Je****** is coming in a few days... I would love me some R-290X sweetness but since no "official" benchmarks are available, the 780 will do.

I can always sell it later ofc. :D

XFX has been terrible ever since the 7xxx series came out. I use to like them for double lifetime warranties and their tolerance for enthusiasts(they use to install water blocks for free...they still might but who cares.) They then got rid of DLW and went even further by voltage locking cards. Seriously, XFX needs to go out of business. Crap cards with terrible customer service. There are threads everywhere on the net about their QC, more than any other vendor that I've seen.
