    Hey,

You know how you can set your "Computer Name" but it won't take spaces? Well I used to put something like Desktop-Computer because hyphens are allowed and spaces aren't. So I was messing around with it earlier and I thought; I'm going to change it to something like "Windows®7" and it worked, it said something about are you sure you want "non-standard computer name" or something and I clicked OK.

I changed the 'Computer Description' to "Windows® 7 Ultimate", I don't care about Copyright and Registered Trademark symbols or anything like that, I just like the way it looks, it's different and I like that, I actually asked one of the Moderators on this forum if they could add a ® to the end of my name (or at least I think it was this forum, maybe it wasn't, it was some forum anyway) and they didn't oblige, not that I blame them.

Then I thought if it is allowing Alt Code symbols like ® or © could I use the Alt Code for the hidden space - Alt 255 and I could! So I was able to change it. I changed it to simply "Desktop PC" and usually it wouldn't allow that space but because it's an Alt Code it works. So if you ever wanted to change the 'Full/Computer Name' and have a space in it then use the Alt Code for the hidden space (Alt 255).

I've always named my computer based on the "theme" of the system. For example when AMD had their Hydra name they used, that was the name of my system for a while (it was also a star constellation).

Also, I always name my hard drives/SSD after Moons in the solar system ie Titan, Callisto, Ganymede, Deimos, Phobe, Triton etc (also correspond to size); and my networking groups have always been space themed, work group Solar (as in system), router named Constellation.

Yeah, I usually use a Moon, Star, Planet, Constellation, etc as what I name everything. I'm not super into astronomy, but I was as a kid and that's my way to pay homage to my younger self, it also makes it easier to pick a name and be identified.

My computers always get female names. My last one was named Sarah; this one is named Miranda.

ALTAIR. But not Altair 8800 the old 70's computer, but in honor of the greatest video game character of all time Altair Ibn La-Ahad.

I name my systems after their physical appearance. My first that I gave a name like that to was "MESA" as the case was Half-Life themed. Eventually I got to my current system with a green Corsair C70, "Ammocan".
