TDP increase? What's the explanation for this? Does that TDP include the GPU, then I could understand it.
As I explained in the other thread they moved the VRMs off the motherboard and onto the processor. So instead of having like 75w CPU and 25w on the motherboard you'll have 84w on the CPU and 5w on the motherboard (note these are estimations for example only). So total system power consumption goes down. The other advantage is that the CPU can now switch power states much, much faster. As a result the processor can race to sleep much quicker. The unfortunate part is that this change will increase temps on the CPU. It should be offset a bit by the improved TIM/IHS method they are claiming to be using but who knows. Overall for computing and certain applications it's a huge benefit, for gamers it's probably a negative as it effects thermals.
