http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/skydrive/download-skydrive Skydrive is microsoft version of dropbox, it will create a folder on your harddrive that will sync itself with the cloud and any computer you install it on. Dropbox free account gives you only 2gigs. The promo says that "only if you had an account before" but I just signed up and it still gave me the free 25gigs anyway, and other people too. You need a hotmail account. Install skydrive, enter your hotmail info ect..., it will give you the free 7gig account, right click the icon in task bar and click manage storage, there will be a option for the free 25gig upgrade. It's worth mentioning skydrive upgrade account prices are much cheaper than dropbox, on the order of 1/4 the price. Enjoy!
25gb doesn't take that long with proper upload speeds but for example adsl here in finland is something like 24mb/1mb my 100mb/5mb is ok but well not that good if it was 100/100
got a free upgrade started backup of my photos 12gb its going to take hours 13mb download 700k upload just upgraded my wifes and sons(hes 4) then linked them got 3x25gb for free
You can upgrade online without installing the skydrive App. Anyone using it, can you set custom folders to upload to, I use SugarSync atm.
Add Live Mesh with it and you actually have 30GB useable synced storage. =b @dcx_badass For custom folders you have to use Live Mesh, but it 'only' has 5GB storage (which funnily also stored in SkyDrive, but it's outside the free 25GB). With SkyDrive app you can only define one folder to store everything. The neat (?) thing with SkyDrive is that you can actually access directories of remote systems from your web browser if those have SkyDrive app installed. So, if you happen want to sync something from your other PC but forgot to put it inside your SkyDrive sync folder, you can just access the folders of that PC with a web browser and copy over the files to the SkyDrive sync folder on that PC. It basically makes your browser a 'remote Windows Explorer'; I've tested this with Waterfox.
Got my free 25GB too... It looks pretty nice, and the size limit is up to 2GB if you upload through the SkyDrive folder, 300mb if it's done online. I probably will only use it as extra storage space, but it sounds like it could be really handy for people that are on the go with multiple devices all the time.
