well basically, i've been trying to find info on the chipset used by my MoBo.. got that from Speccy, Chipset Vendor AMD Chipset Model RD9x0 Chipset Revision 02 so i went on Asus, and downloaded the chipset folder for my MoBo (AMD_Chipset_XPVistaWin7_8_VER8973_VER8981).. about 1gb when unzipped.. there's countless folders and .exe files in there... so im lost. so i have 2 questions: 1. how do i know what chipset driver version i have 2. how do i update it when trying to run a .exe from the folder it installs catalyst (i dont have ATI video cards on my computer?!) and some other useless programs well, that's about it.. if you need more info, ask
You have 99X w/ AMD 950 SB, with AMD/JMicron SATA controllers and AsMedia USB. The latest AMD drivers are here; download and extract package with 7-Zip, then go to device manager/ide/ata controllers and install manually. AsMedia and USB3 drivers can be found on the same site. http://www.station-drivers.com/page/drivers.htm Specs here.
well, the drivers are not from AMD or ASUS.. it's from a 3rd party website, which is not affiliated with any of them.
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M5A99X_EVO/#support_Download choose OS and then choose chipset. download from global link.
I have the same motherboard and im using the latest drivers provided by station-drivers, no problem...
i think it's the number of pci-e lane available for crossfire or sli, plus different usb, audio, sata... controller.
Pretty easy to compare chipsets at ASUS Global http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD_Platform_Products/
