    ...He's correct, you aren't.

    You're viewing the extremely high resolution on your monitor (presumably 1920x1080 or smaller, maybe 1920x1200) as if it the same resolution, ofcourse you're going to get aliasing, we don't have the pixel density to show how AA isn't necessarily needed at such a high resolution, you'd only be able to see that on the monitor itself

    on a 32" display with a 4K resolution the pixel density should be 137.68 PPI

    on a 24-27" display with 1920x1200 resolution the pixel density should be 91.79 PPI (24") to 81.59 PPI (27")

    We'd have to have a 1920x1200 16" monitor to have the same PPI as that 32" 4K tv to show the same level of unneeded AA in-game

    But no matter what, you can't judge that picture on your monitor and decide that his comment about not needing AA was incorrect, you're not seeing what he's seeing

    Sorry, wrong. You're making incorrect assumptions.

    I'm using a 21" CRT at 2048x1536. The 32" monitors used for the eyefinity setup each have 3840x720 res.

    Pixel density:
    Mine = 122
    Eyefinity = 137

    Therefore my pixel density is similar to the displays the screenshot was taken from, and believe me there is aliasing present.

    3840x720?? It's vertical res is 2160. Btw I get aliasing on my phone which dpi is 335~. That game sucks for aliasing.

    11,520 x 2,160 is the total for of all 3 displays. Each monitor has a res of 3840x720.

    I never enable AA on my 1600p display, don't see it.

    I hate any jaggies so I need at least some AA.... Metro LL 2xSSAA is enough, 4x MSAA in FarCry 3 was all good.

    Some people don't get bothered though, it just depends on preference....

    Uhm the vertical res is 2160 for each monitor. You dont add the vertical res of each monitor together unless they are stacked ontop of eachother, thats not how it works.

    No, each monitor has a vertical res of 2160, the eyefinity setup was 3 screens placed horizontally.. there is no vertical res multiplication.

    That would be using 3x3 displays (9 displays). Here we're using 3 monitors horizontally.

    Yes that's very true, please slap me. :p

    So then Eyefinity is 137 PPI and my Sony 122 PPI. Still not a huge gap though....

    I don't agree. 1080p isn't even standard yet. HD TV isn't even standard yet. 1080p is still considered a bonus not a standard to this day.

    Pushing 4k is not a good idea. Putting it out in the market is fine, but its not going to be as affordable as 1080p is just now starting to be. Until HDTV takes up most of the market, you wont see 4k as a standard any time soon. It's still too expensive for a lot of folks.

    TV market maybe, but in desktop computers any person runs a 1080p display for ages now. I know a lot of people that just use their computer for office and simple stuff and have a 1080p screen. OK, maybe it´s too soon to turn 4k as standard, that´s a little radical, but at least make it a viable option soon for people like us.

    Both Console games BOTH badly optimized! They run on **** hardware from 2005 but can't run on an 8320, and 660Ti? So your reply is what? You've just proven my point!

    Are you smoking crack? What hardware from 2005 can run MetroLL or FC3?

    Metro goes great on my rig btw. Maybe you should upgrade your card.

    Well 1080 is common, that's the thing......

    Full HD movies are 1080p and won't look better on a 4K monitor.....console ports like Skyrim with crappy low definition textures will still look crappy (OK huge monitors like >55" may benefit).

    But really how would we be better off with 4K right now?

    I don't think so....he means PC games.
    I agree there are very few, but they are there all the same. ArmA III is one.
