Is there any way to increase the amount of time you stay logged into the forum? It seems every time I look away i get logged back out, or worse, when I try to enter a post I've spent a long time typing. I've seen on some forums a "stay logged in for x amount of time" option.
Good to know that others have this problem. After reading a couple of Kevin Mitnick's, and Kevin Poulsens's books, I was becoming a trifle twitchy and paranoid about this.
there is a "remember me" box next to where you input your forum name and password. tick that before you log in.
I was under the impression that just saved your login details in the entry boxes and wouldn't keep you from logging out.
Tick that box next to the login info please. You'll remain logged in, if not it's a setting in your browser or software setting preventing cookies.
actually what the OP meant was that guru3d logs you out even if you don't refresh/load pages for some time.. This isn't normal IMHO .. or is it? Also can someone tell me whom do i contact if i want to get my username changed? Can all the people with the "don" title do it.. Or only some of them?
Sessions timeout automatically after 900 seconds of inactivity or closing the browser. That's what is the root of the 'problem'. If it happens during a session ... something is killing or blocking cookies in your browser. We have no control over that on our server end. Checking that box will create and store a cookie on your PC so you won't have to deal with these timeouts.
Oh good lord. I always wondered this as well. It never annoyed me enough to make a thread about it but I'm glad someone did. *Ticks box* Not going to do anything for 15 mins. I'll be back!
