Hello, i have a 64gb flash drive from corsair and i want to partition it, i have already tried Paragon Partition Manager, Gparted, Partition Magic, none of them work, the main issue here is that windows wont see more than one partition, i also tried this trick:

    http://www.lancelhoff.com/multi-partition-a-usb-flash-drive-in-windows/

and it didnt work for me, windows still detects it as removable device...

    any ideas?

    thanks in advance

It will always show as removable disk, because that's what it is.

Are you trying to install an OS onto it or something?

I always just use the Disk Management console (Administrative Tools). So far this always worked with all USB sticks.

How to use Disk Management to configure basic disks in Windows XP
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000

Btw: after you partitioned your USB stick, the partitions will of course show up as separate drives - just like a partitioned HDD.

how did you get it to work with USB flash drives?

if i try disk management it doesnt even let me create a partition on a usb stick

btw i havent rebooted yet so i havent had a chance to try acronis yet

sorry for taking a week to reply here, i had to travel on business, anyways here are the results:

acronis didnt work, and not only it didnt work but also made my computer not recognize the flash drive anymore (this is when i started freaking out), after so much crying over my supposed lost flash drive, unninstalling acronis solved (i dont know why)

then i read both cybermancer's hacks, decided to try the first one for looking simpler and "cleaner", and bingo! it worked flawlessly!!! cybermancer, youre my hero! thanks A LOT!!!

    dear sir,
Hope you are good. I am able to turn my 64gb usb flash drive into a local hard drive as explained by you. But i am not able to format it to NTFS. Moreover, when i try to create multiple FAT32 partitions, i get error messages.

How can i format it to NTFS and create multiple partitions?

Please keep me posted. Thanks a lot

NTFS isnt a good choice for usb sticks, the best is ExFAT

I stumbled across a problem today, i installed vista64 and the driver doesnt work anymore because its 32 bits, i need a local disk 64 bits driver in order to make it work now :\

does anybody know how to obtain a 64 bits local disk driver?

    You're welcome, Mr.Bigtime. :)

The search function (http://forums.guru3d.com/search.php) is the most useful sticky there is, imo. Otherwise there would be just too many stickies and finding info in a 20 page sticky is going to take a while also.
