    Lightning has 20 phase pwm
    Classified has 14 phase pwn

Classified has better cooler depending on who you ask.

Other than that, there really is no difference between the 2.

Well, if we take Hilbert's reviews as an indicative, then Lighting@Load its at 75'C while the EVGA 780 SC ACX is sitting at 65'C! Even the Palit 780 SJS is at 65'C?
And I have been reading the Classy cooler is a bit better too than the ACX.

So unless something's wrong, the cooler on the Lighting is actually not that good/bad for a custom one?

Pricing needs sorting, as you can get the much faster 7990 for around £100 less here in the UK.

I missed the price in the conclusion! €800?? Someone's smoking the overpriced-stuff as it seems.

I can get a Palit 780 Jetstream for €550 or the Super Jetstream for €565! Hell, there's a shop selling a reference GB 780 for €505!

Also MSI 780 OC, EVGA 780 SC, GB 780 OC and Zotac 780 AMP are selling for under €600.

    Seriously €800? Oh please....

Thank you Hilbert for the update..

Now when it drops to 650EUR that would be a reasonable price imo.

@Hilbert, I noticed that in the recent reviews of video cards ( 780 series for example) you would not include different card makes in the charts. So if I want to compare the temperature, noise levels, clocks etc of the 780 Lightning to say the EVGA 780 SC ACX I have to dig up the EVGA review and look it up.

The 300% VBIOS does not work for me because after the flash Windows recognizes the card only as standard with stop code 43 no matter what I do.:bang:
    EDIT: got it working:banana:

It's a great card but those 105Mhz(1333Mhz vs 1228Mhz) extra according to Hilbert's review will give just 1-2(1-1,5%) FPS in games. In some games probably even none.
Now in synthetic benchmarks the difference is a bit more profound.

Just saying. It should be no more that 20-30EUR/$25 at max more than other custom 780's.

I'm also a bit curious as to why the Lighting is 10-12'C hotter compare to some other custom 780's. I know that Hilbert tests them in a temperature controlled office.

look one post above your about the 300% bios. these cards are very high quality built to withstand much more than the regular variety. that goes for all lightnings be it 7970, 780, 680 etc. these cards are not for everybody just like the evga classy line.
I went ahead with the evga ftw 4gb cards because the classy had the ev bot removed, now there is an msi hack that can control the voltage through software. I am stuck at 1.21v while lightnings and classy`s can handle a lot more voltage

TK I know about the Lighting's quite well and I mistakenly thought Hilbert's review in the OC page was done with the 300%. It wasn't.

While I hope Hilbert will provide us an Update in the review with results with the 300% bios.

I will also revise my statement a bit to that although it justifies the difference little more with the 300% bios, a €100/$120 price premium is a bit much. Just my opinion.

But, we all know the Lighting's aren't for everyone but everyone wants them.. :D

I would love to hear their reason for that. And what MSI has to say about it.

If they made a WB for that card, I'd forgo the boycott and get a couple.
