which one is a better card? i've read some reviews and benchmarks and i'm confused, some say the 660 ti pe is better and some say that the 7950 vapor-x oc boost is better.
http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/404...geforce-gtx-660-frametimes-review-conclusion# 660 beats the 7870ghz so there is no chance a 7950 is going to be better than a 660ti at least on frame latencies. My vote goes to 660ti.
Of course there is, yours.Pim pam pum ftw If the 7950 has Bioshock and Crysis 3 for free i would pick that.
How is that comparison valid? 660 > 7870 so 660Ti > 7950? And what about frame latencies? That article with DX9 games? Solved. I seriously don't understand. 7950 > 660Ti, at stock. OCed and it takes over the 680. OC the 660Ti and you can take over some onions. That's in addition to more VRAM, higher memory bandwidth where it pulls even further, and the potential memory issue of the 660Ti running 4x512MB VRAM on 3x64-bit memory bus. 660Ti is a good card, but crippled hardware vs. high-end hardware. Need I say more?
Look at Crysis 3, 660ti > 7950 anyday, now you can go eat your onios too. haha Not everyone overclocks there cards, so stop with the bs.
Advising people based upon a major selling point of hardware on a computer enthusiast website is bull****?
660Ti vs. 7950 isn't a debate to be had anymore. Seriously, I've had enough of this. If you prefer Nvidia cards over anything AMD offers, or want more AA modes (on a crippled memory bandwidth card, that is a FINE idea), and you are dreaming of PhysX day and night, then yes, go 660Ti. But if you're objectively comparing the two cards and have no grudge against either company, the 7950 is BETTER. Plain and simple.
I studied this long and hard and read all the reviews before I chose my card. In the games that were important to me, the 660ti was mostly ahead (dont play Crysis 1 and metro 2033 anymore). Also dont game at 2560x1600 where the 7950s edge is most apparent, but at 1920x1080 and am perfectly content with modest levels of AA, so the 660ti suited me nicely. I knew that the 7950 had more headroom and when OC'd would be faster, but not enough to sway me. In the end it was simply a preference for Nvidia. That said, I would probably recommend the 7950 for most other people as it has does have the higher bang for the buck value.
I bet now the OP is messed up in his thoughts. haha Gratitude(too much Spartacus :nerd for your replys cuz i thought i was going nuts all alone against those fellows. lol
as long as its at 1080 thats the card I would go with given the choice of the two. Higher framerates does not always correspond with a better experience
That's easy 7950 overclock 7950 and it can be as fast as a stock 7970 which is faster than 660 ti, getting 660 ti over 7950 is a bad choice and is this coming from a hardcore NVidia fanboy lol
Are you playing at more than 1920*1080 res.?What kinda of games do you play or intend to?Are you going to overclock or do you know how to? Anyway, if you can find a 7950 with free Crysis 3 and Bioshock, that would be my choice because it's an outstanding bundle. If not and if you play at max 1080p go with Nvidia because i believe this folks have better drivers/latencies and Cuda and Physx.
no..my max resolution is 1920x1080. the kind of games that i play is far cry 3 , crysis 2,3 , assassins creed 3 , battlefield 3 , need for speed most wanted 2012 , watch dogs (its not released yet). and no..im not going to overclock anything and i don't know how
Easy math then, check this out: http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/far_cry_3_graphics_performance_review_benchmark,6.html - FC3 - Nvidia Wins http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/crysis_3_graphics_performance_review_benchmark,7.html - Crysis 3 - Nvidia Wins http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/his_radeon_7950_x_iceq_review,16.html - BF3 - AMD Wins http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/404...gtx-660-frametimes-review-assassins-creed-iii - AC3 - Nvidia Wins And that's it, i don't think there is a benchmark for NFS, and Watch Dog wasn't released yet so, go with Nvidia.
