and the gtx 780 is 650 dollars, another 50 bucks more you got the ati 7990 card, ati is making nvidia to force their cards to drop down in price, they will have no choice in order to keep up with the competition thats going hand to hand.

two ati 7970's = 600 dollars or a lil less, 100 dollars+ cheaper then the 7990 and 50 dollars cheaper then the 780, forget it, ati is haulin' now.

I am still waiting for the new silicon from ati and nvidia, personally I am waiting for the new maxwell gpu's.

7990 can be found for under $600 btw so it's not $50 more than gtx 780, they cost about the same, which is insane.

Someone spends 500+ more on a video card , well if i did i wouldn't bother upgrading for the next 7 years. No point, because if you spend 500 or even 1000 on a card it should be able to run any game at 60 frames no problems for yea the next 6-7 years, if nothing, something is wrong. I have a 550 ti which i had for 2 years now, and it runs any game just fine even new ones at the proper settings which i enjoy to use.

    Anyways, happy shopping :)

There is a difference in runing a game and maxing it out. Look at GTX680, it's 2 years old 500$ GPU and can't push 60fps in quite a few games already.

What after 7 years? It would be long dead, lol

Actually GTX680 got release date 2012-03-22. And yes, if I had to use 7 years old HW it would be on par with entry level AMD APU netbooks while eating 10 times more energy.

My hd 7950 is faster than say gtx 7970ghz or gtx 680 and it can't max out and run 60fps in most of the demanding games. In 6 years it'll be way off. Same goes for anything else on the market today. General dude, you're completely off

Well depends on how max you want it. Max to me with my set up depending on the game will be 1366x768 full aa max or 1920x1080 max with full aa. All i know if i spend 500 dollars or more on a card and it can't get 60 frames at 1920x1080 with full aa max settings , something is wrong, way wrong.

    Alright, maybe 4 years.

Gtx 780 is over $500 and it can't max a lot of games at 60fps

Show me a modern game where you get 60FPS 1080p maxed with full AA. Screenshot.

Well maybe he dosn't need 'eye candy graphics or 60fps in every game.

Point is GPU wont last long even if you pay 500$.

If you can max every game on a card older than 6 months then developers aren't trying hard enough, I haven't played a new game since last year due to my card.

On topic, great price for a 7990 but even though CF is better than ever I would still prefer a 780.

Yeah, but this is what he said
1080p maxed with full AA? no way on that rig. Anyway, I'm not going to argue with him.

    Why? the 7990 annihilates it!

Because there is little room to add to it.

When the 780 starts to struggle I could add another one.

I could add another 7990, but how many games support 4 GPU's.

or you could just add a 7970 and you'd still annihilate gtx 780 SLI performance for a lot less money. :)

Anyway, gtx 780 sli would be nice, if he's willing to drop £1200+ on gpus only.

Once you go past 2 cards support on actual games gets inconsistent at best, no matter the brand you pick.

Not that I think the 780 is close to good value when you can pick up 3 670s for the same price.

I'm personally waiting until September to see what AMD have to offer though.

Why do people always say the word argue? nobody is doing that. :3eyes:
Anyways, i said depending on the game. Warframe for example, 1920x1080 max settings, 50-60 frames easily. But you're missing the point, im saying if someone spends 500 or even 1000 on a video card, you don't need to upgrade for at least 4 years until the card dies or something and you should be able to play any game with the card at 1920x1080 or even 1600x900 full aa max in game settings and still get 50-60 frames all the time, also having a good CPU.

Now if you can't i would say its a scam and you just wasted 500-1000 bucks.

There is a case for a super high end card running today's games maxed, anything in the future though is irrelevant.

GPU's maker can't see into the future, nor do they put limits on how far devs push graphics.

PC gaming in general is a scam to most people anyway, as is anything high end be it audio to cars.
