Hi all! i am looking to buy a computer but my budget is variable, hoping to spend 700 -£1000 based on what i want. less the better because i dont want to spend alot.
a fast SSD card is necessary. i'm not fussed in wanting to run everything on max settings.
i also need a mouse, keyboard and OS.

    cheers!:)

Is there anything you can reuse? Case, Optical Drives, HDD's, PSU?

I just went on ebuyer and quickly put together a rig under £900 roughly using these components

    i5 3570k CPU
    Asus z77 LX2 Motherboard
    8gb Corsair Vengeance Ram
    Corsair TX750 PSU
    Gigabyte HD 7950 GPU
    Samsung 840 Pro SSD
    Logitech G104 Keyboard

All this came to around £860. that would be a really decent rig for the money. add another £40 for a Logitech G9 and whatever W7 costs and you should be fine under £1000.

You can also check out AMD FX 8320 cpu, and maybe a HD 7870 if you want to save a bit of cash. But easily achievable for under a grand, under £900 too if you compromise a little bit. And welcome back, where the hell have you been?

What speed RAM is that? avoid 1333 speed RAM. If the cost difference between 1600 and 2133 RAM is minimal, go for 2133 speed RAM (Ivy does like 2133 RAM).

it was 1866 ram but 2133 ram wouldn't cost much more probably, didn't check though as I was short on time

I'd probably go with something like this:

Samsung Green can often OC to 2400mhz if you feel you want more speed out of your memory, motherboard supports sli/crossfire if desired in the future along with a PSU that will happily run such a config. Enough money left to choose a case, o/s, and peripherals. Prices taken from OCUK, shopping around would probably net you a better deal for your money. I just find OCUK easy to navigate. I assumed you'd at least have a monitor. If not drop down to a 7870LE and get an SSD at a later date.

You could also consider going for an AMD 8320 based system as suggested by eclap, not quite as fast for gaming but still very good. It'll save you some money if you really don't want to spend much. Although if you wanted to remain with Intel there are some savings to be had if you've no intention of ever going for a multi gpu setup.

I'd say a lot of that's down to personal preference. You can't go wrong with anything from Corsair, Antec, or Cooler Master if you want a reference. There are other solid case manufacturers out there of course, depends on how much you want to spend on one really. If you do go for an Antec build be weary of anything less than a 302 however, you'll find them a little tight for space when it comes to installing GPU's such as the HD7950.

I absolutely love the P280, but it might be a tad much for his budget. I was thinking more along the lines of an Antec 302 or Carbide 300R for cost (I'd personally pick the 300R). You could probably get away with a slightly cheaper 200R, for the price it's a fantastic case. I built my brother a system in one and it was a joy to work in, tons of fan mounts and space for the price.

You have a P280? Or you've worked with one? :D

I have an Antec 300 right now and boy is it getting small.. the need for space and airflow is getting higher by the minute, and GOOD CABLE MANAGEMENT tbh.

I want a good solid mid-tower not too big case.

That 300R looks pretty neat and pretty perfect tbh? o,O :D

    Maybe I'll get that one.

For coolers, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Xigm...66452257&sr=8-1&keywords=xigmatek+dark+knight or the usual http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Mast...8&qid=1366452288&sr=1-6&keywords=thermalright maybe.

I'm getting the Dark Knight myself I think, pretty much.

I'd replace that XFX with another 7950. They tend to come voltage-locked (avoid Gigabyte as well, voltage-locked too).

I would recommend you buy a Corsair case, ever since George Makris took over on their case designs they are fantastic.

That motherboard isn't the best choice for overclocking either.........the P8Z77-V would be better.

Worked in a few of the Corsair cases, although the P280 looks to be a dream to work with also. Honestly, it's impossible to screw up when building in the more modern Corsairs. Absolutely fantastic quality.

I'd not worry about that board not overclocking well to be honest, any Z77 will net you 4.4-4.6 give or take a little.
