Ordered the parts for a 3570k setup, bring on some more folding points.. :flip2:

One more post into this thread by me... basically just admitting more faults left and right...
but over the past few weeks after cleaning and undusting/dedusting the computer i got pissed at the folding errors, so today, along with a 6'er of coors light i went to town dusting and replacing the cords into their respective places.. when i found that i misplaced my psu cables from the main 6/8 pin(yellow) and the auxiallary 68 pin (black) so that i ended ended up have the main dedicated pins in the same videocard instead of having the pins staggered like i had before fixed it, and everything is working swimmingly again.

you may ask yourself... why does this giant pile of awesomeness, aka Brasky, keep posting these stupid posts in the folding@home user thread...

Well, because i don't mind admitting my mistakes/errors and hopefully these stupid posts will help someone else along the way.

Also. trying out the new nvidia drivers in the 300 ranges and so far so good.

His power supply has aux connectors that work as either 6pin or 8pin PCIe Aux power connectors. Think of them like 6+2 connectors.....similar to the ATX 20+4 power connector.

Exactly, and the 301.24 drivers have been working swimmingly.

that a good clock you got there but i would def stress it for a bit longer like over 4 hour at the least

Oh my...just noticed I got the same exact Daily Production for two consecutive days.
What are the odds of that? :p

with the amount of work unit that we get through you think it would never happen

Well, considering there are seconds to minutes difference that affects bonus points on SMP WUs, and the fact that I can't control which project I'd get the WUs from, it's pretty nifty. :p
Even the Hourly Production for those two days are different, but they somehow still add up to the same amount.

so the 680 has 3x the cuda cores of a 580 basically, shouldn't it fold at 3x also? or what part am i missing here.

You're missing the part where they aren't as efficient as the cuda cores in Fermi were. If you were to give Fermi the same number of cuda cores as the GTX680....it would easily outperform the 680 in GPGPU operations. The reason for the performance difference between Fermi and Kepler is the massive increase in "cuda cores" and the drastically higher clocks. The Kepler architecture is very power efficient.....unfortunately the architecture, in general, is less efficient at processing data than Fermi is/was.

Check, well, good to know. i guess the power efficiency is the selling point compared to the fermi cards then.

    Gotta be careful when formatting.

Still can't get the GPU folder to run....just errors out. Trying to figure out what the problem is. Might just have to revert to the Cat12.4 or pickup a cheap nV card to fold on. Thinking a GT430 or 520 to run as a dedicated folder otherwise I'll have to pickup a new PSU.
