Acer has once again expanded its line of IPS monitors by launching the B243PWL. This new 24-inch LED-backlight monitor provides 1920 x 1200 native resolution 100000000:1 dynamic contrast ratio 300 cd/m2... More...
What's with manufacturers skipping HDMI ports these days yet including Display Port? My monitor (U2312HM) is the same so I had to use an HDMI to DVI converter to connect my PS3 then buy a Display Port cable (and we all know those are a scam) for my PC since there is only one DVI port... sigh. Anyway, it's nice to see some 1920x1200 monitors still around rather than everything being 1920x1080, people should have the option. Although the price is fine, 14ms response time is too much and I'm willing to bet the panel is 6 bit.
Jesus, that response time sucks. Even my 17inch 16:10 "Chimei" monitor from 2006 has a 2ms response time.
This is an IPS, no IPS has anything close to 2ms response time, 8ms is pretty standard. Mine is rated at 8ms and the motion blur is negligible, it doesn't bother me anyway.
Another question is input lag. For example so-called response time is really great on my IPS HP2475W (theoretically 5-6ms, in practice no visible blur). But it's got enough input lag to make playing shooters difficult in low-latency conditions. While the displayed image looks clear, it's delayed. For me, the perfect gaming monitor would be IPS with pretty uniform backlight, 8ms or less response, and no input lag at all.
