$500-$600? I'll buy one for $500, but not at $600.

    Personally I'm excited for this.

Coming from a GTX 580, the 780 will be a huge upgrade and I can't wait for it

will be buying an EVGA version as soon as I can get my hands on one

I think AMD will have to come up with some sort of refresh as well. If these cards come out end-May, cant see AMD doing nothing till end of year.

I wonder what the odds are that it will actually be $500 and not $600 just because the Titan was priced at $1K just because they could.

Also what were the official excuses of nVidia and AMD for holding back their top models and delaying everything by a year? It wreaks of price fixing/working together to screw the consumer.

Hmm.. the 780 might be just what im looking for. Unless the titan ultra is true, then im willing to wait for the regular old titan to drop afew hundo. Would like to see what the ati 8000 series are going to be like, but It is really really time to get something new the 6950 just isnt doing it for me anymore.. Still runs strong but me wants new!

Both AMD and Nvidia have done top-bottom release with GCN and Kepler.
They did not hold back on anything.

As for Titan, it was not a typical GeForce card, and it's chip was badly needed in pro market (ORNL and others).

Nvidia was barely able to keep smaller GK104 in supply. Serving GK110 in both consumer and pro market would have been impossible at the time. Hence it was released later, and they are still selling them as soon as they're making them even with 1000 dollar price mark.

You mean four months? The K20 wasn't available till mid November. And it probably has a lot to do with Titan super computer using 18,688 GK110 chips inside of it. Not to mention the number of yield problems they had with 28nm in general.

I can't read everyones mind, much less their dogs.

What do you mean? Nvidia postponed "real high end" just because "mid-range" GK104 was able to compete with Tahiti?

There are indeed some evidence that GK104 was not originaly intended as high-end. 256bit, had to be clocked very high (+boost) therefore ruining Kepler's mild TDP envelope. But they couldn't release consumer's GK110 for practical purposes , hence GK104.

I'll pass. There is nothing here that interests me and I don't appreciate rebranded cores. I'll limp along with my GTX590 and wait for the new real chips come out in 2014.

I'm hoping games are gonna start using more vram, and this points to it, i guess it'll be due to next-gen consoles. Great news all the same, the 780 sounds rad but i'll probably pass but who knows. :)

Good news, kepler refresh was the next logical move. I'm more intersted in Maxwell though.
