The new Intels aren't that great though. They are marginally faster than the G5 at the same clock speed. Only 10-25% boost.

I think we should expect the same when the PC Core Duo version is released. Intel just can't seem to keep up with its competitors.

Just picked up an Acer Ferrari 4002 from Acer Ferrar 4002 from Tiger Direct Canada

AMD Turion 64 ML-30 (unfortunately it is the higher voltage chip) 1.6Ghz.
    512 MB DDR PC2700
    ATI Radeon Mobility X700 128MB
    15.4" WSXGA+
    80GB HDD
    Dual Layer DVD±RW
More ports than you can shake a stick at, including DVI-D which is why I bought it.

The included Bluetooth mouse is a joke! The precision is the worst I've ever seen, worse than a gunked up old skool ball mouse. Battery life is limited when wireless LAN is enabled, but this is expected.

Other than that she's absolutely flawless. How can I not love it!

Here's some benchmarks I ran as soon as I turned it on (I did a complete windows update first).
These are all the free d/l versions:
    3DMark 2001 SE (Build 330) = 15174
    3dMark 2003 (Ver. 3.6.0) = 5129
    3DMark 2005 (Build 1.2.0) = 2061
I havn't ran 2006 yet but will tonight.

After that I'll update to the lates drivers for everything and see what difference it makes.

    Actually a Geforce 4 MX is a glorified Geforce2..aka DX7 card.

    2GB RAM
    60GB 7200RPM HD
    ATI Mobility Radeon X700 256MB
    DVD-RW

    Price: ~$2,100
    Vendor: PCTorque

I bought this laptop from PCTorque in Spring of 2005. The experience was hassle free and easy, they even sent me a free USB Floppy Drive because at the time I had placed my order it was mislabled as free on the website. I'm extremely happy with the machine, though of course seeing the new Core Duo offerings I sometimes get pangs of regret - but these are owed more to salivation over the latest and greatest rather than any shortcoming of my Sager.

I'm very happy with the Sager 4880 due to its amazing battery life (12 cell battery), X700 256MB, and 15'' screen. On the downside the screen has bad viewing angles, but in practice this is rarely noticable unless you're attempting to have a group of people watch a DVD or something from side angles.

We bought a laptop from Gateway at an Office Max here in the neighborhood and it's turned out to be pretty good. Haven't had any problems. The widescreen monitor is hot.

This company, in my opinion, is a very underrepresented company. They get their barebones from the Taiwanese ODM manufacturer Quanta. They're top of the line laptop material. I, personally, am extremely satisfied with this current laptop that I have; it performs flawlessly under intensive use, especially during gaming, hehe.

Was I right a about the dual cores?:speed:
Anyway; just as an update - I use this lappy for a few hours every morning and even though the battery life isn't great (I get around three hours) The performance IS. The best part of this notebook is the screen. Most of the lappys out there - even current models - are still using XGA screens. While the 'glossy' screens look amazing, I would love to see manufactures do away with 'xga' and offer at least 'sxga+'. The added screen realestate is much desirable! Text is also much more crisp and clear.:)

    Acer Aspire 5672

    Core Duo T2300 (1.66) => Upgraded my CPU to T2400 (1.86)
1GB 533 Ram - I couldnt believe it that the ram was Corsair
Seagate Momentus 120GB SATA 150 - Hard Drive come with FAT32 (SPOILER)
X1600 128mb - I sent my laptop back and they replaced my video card and i paid the small difference of $90

    Price: $1100 US

Bought my laptop from Buy.com and the delivery was hassle free and did not had any problems wih them. Also the deilivery came 2 days early than it was originaly stated.

Well I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 (E1505 in USA).

It's a great and sturdy laptop, plays many games on high or medium. For example Battlefield 2 would run on High but I prefer Medium as I see it easier on my eyes for some reason and CSS on High @ 1280*780 (16:9).

Also, the new Core Duo CPU's are awesome, they're great for multitasking and stuff.

My specs are in my rig info...as this is my only system right now...
