    Normal V-Sync all the way.

    The problem with Adaptive V-Sync is that the difference between a V-Sync enabled image vs a non V-Sync image is pretty substantial, at least for me, V-Sync gives a complete new level of smoothness to the image, and when you're crossing that line consistently, it completely erases the purpose of the feature.

    I'd much rather have normal V-Sync'ed image under 60Hz/60FPS (every game has a 3rd buffer anyway), than a non V-Sync'ed image under 60Hz/60FPS.

    Full V-sync.

    Mind you, there was an issue with Adaptive when I first bought my 670 that was later corrected so I haven't exactly given it a fair go, but when I was using it back then performance was actually worse because of it. Less performance plus added tearing made it an absolute no sale for me.

    Even with the fix now in place I still think I'd prefer full V-sync. With Triple Buffering, of course (max pre-render of 2).

    Adaptive Vsync and 1/2 refresh rate don't seem IMO to do anything, I've tired them and it always appears to do nothing. I have a GTX 670 FTW LE and a 3770K overclocked to 4.4ghz and still I feel it does NOTHING.

    However I do believe D3DOverrider works best (click here to download with Display Switch)

    I'm trying so hard to give Lucid VirtuaMVP a chance, but after their bizarre fiasco of releasing Gen 2 and charging a yearly license fee I don't know what to think. The thing is cool but not that COOL, hell I could upgrade my videocard in a few years and maybe not even see a difference using it. Anyways I would be willing to pay $40 a year maybe if it worked flawlessly, but the damn thing crashed my Windows 8 install with a BSOD twice and there was no way to recover, later did I learn VirtuaMVP 2nd gen needs to be uninstalled entirely before upgrading your display drivers. Gen 1 had not done this to me :-(

    God help us screen tearing does suck

    V-sync with triple buffering as I cannot stand screen tearing, no matter how slight.

    Adaptive v-sync is a good idea in practice but it has been used on the consoles since Gears of War in 2006 (sometimes called soft or hybrid v-sync) and it was that which drove me away from multiplatform games on my Xbox 360 and PS3 to my PC instead.

    Lucid MVP Virtual V-sync.

    Works the same as OpenGL triple-buffered v-sync, but with Direct3D (you get proper triple-buffering instead of a frame queue +1, that's why it doesn't increase input lag).

    I can hit 60FPS in most games without dips, and can't really notice screen tearing in the games where it does dip.

    I'd rather have a bit of tearing anyway than drops to 30.

    Unless you disable Aero, V-sync still works in windowed modes. If you do disable Aero than you're stuck without it, though.

    Yeah, but those driver settings seem to be ignored in fullscreen windowed. At least when I tried with GW2 yesterday.

    I use Adaptive V-sync or V-sync disabled with an FPS cap. I hate mouse lag.

    I always disable visual theme and desktop composition in my games shorcut so that means no vsync and tripe buffer ? GOD !!

    You won't get drops to 30 FPS, most games nowadays, and for a little while now AFAIK, come with some sort of a 3rd buffer, so even with normal V-Sync enabled, you won't get drops to 30/20, etc.

    Exactly, cant understand why people use regular v-sync any more.
    Id rather have a tiny bit of tearing than a huge fps drop.

    "Most" is debatable but your right, depends on what games you have.

    You told us what you do and why and somehow made it a question.
    Surely you already know if you do it?

    I know that turning off desktop composition stops vsync working when not in full screen mode.
    Not sure what it does to the buffering.
