This time around we test and review the GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked from EVGA. The all new GTX 260 model has 24 more shader processors and was overclocked at default to squeeze more performance...

Still, they arent worth anything near the extra money e-tailers are charging for it.

Though not overclocked, but still the versions with 216 SPs:

    EVGA 896-P3-1264-A3 GeForce GTX 260 896MB: $289.99 (after $40.00 Mail-In Rebate)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130387

    EVGA 896-P3-1265-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 896MB: $279.99 (after $20.00 Mail-In Rebate)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130398

That's a pretty good price, imo and you could easily overclock them yourself...

Prices differ in the UK... theyre charging nearly £240, where as for the cheapest regular version, it is £160, thats ridiculous.

£246 is for the BFG OCX and £220 for the OC version.

They love over pricing hardware over here. Mind you, that is with 17.5% VAT.

The overclocked versions look well worth the extra $20 or so that they are charging. I was going to get a GTX 280 until I read the first review of the BFG OCX at 655. I am an EVGA guy...so I went with a bit less speed (got the Superclocked one at 626) and don't feel that I needed any more. Now I have to wait for Newegg to deliver it...which is getting to be a real pain. They charge extra for two day shipping...and then delay an extra day because you don't pay the extra $2.99 to have your order expedited. Even with that, I am looking forward to adding the Superclocked EVGA to my Q9450 on Asus P5E motherboard, 4GB of DDR2 and Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Excellent review....as always thanks Guru3D

Pretty good performance but I would like Hilbert to make a review of the "Diamond Radeon HD 4870 XOC Video Card". I believe that this card can be equalize or maybe overcome in some cases the performance of the Nvidia GTX 260 Core 216. Nevertheless great job for Nvidia.

I got this card today....WOW! The power saving features are a bit frighteneng when you first encounter them. Run RivaTuner 2.11 and it says that my clocks were 300/600/1000. Talked to EVGA....2D clocks are meant to save energy. In 3D, the card ramps up to 626/1350/2106 and it is full thrusters. I am running everything full blast...including Crysis...and much improvement in fps. Crysis runs between 26-40 fps at 1680 x 1050. Couldn't do that with my 8800 GTS 512. All in all, I am really liking the 260 216 Superclocked card. The factory overclock does make a difference. Also, Just running my fan at 50% all the time, and my full 3D load temps after one hour of Crysis 64 bit DX10 never got over 68C. Built a few fan profiles and at full load I run the fan at 66% and temps NEVER go over 62C

    Excellent piece of hardware

Thats so fckin typical. 240 bucks in US, 240 euros in europe (or even worse, 240 bp in UK)
Is it so hard to use damn calculator and convert the price? So much for how they value us...

    EDIT:
Nice results and price for US though on the other hand, price is just ridiculous for european standards...

    260 and 260 Core 216 in SLI???

Hey all, Could you please share your thoughts on the SLI question?

I already have a regular 260, love it BTW, and now want to go SLI with a second. Will a 216 shader 260 work with my 'old' 260? I would think yes, as basically it's still the same card.

    Thanks for your answers, Beech.
