Am just informing the folks here ffs. I heard she was dead and I decided to post it. You want me to believe that you should post threads only about people which you only care? Well **** I don't care about anyone who I don't know in person. Don't care how famous he is.

To be fair, the man was famous for giving opinions.
And you know what they say about opinions...

But yeah, he's not known for harming anyone. Respectable fellow, AFAIK.

Well his opinions won him the Pulitzer Prize....and lets not forget the 840,000 followers on twitter. ;)

He also had his jaw removed in 2010 and lost the ability to speak.

A divisive figure. I do not agree with her politics but I had respect for her conviction.

It's interesting to watch the strange idolising of her on the right and the joy from the young left that only have the vaguest idea what happened.

She was a wonderful woman loved by her people. They even gave her a nickname - "The Gentle Lady" iirc.

    EDIT: Damn!

Misread that. I was sure it was "The Iron Lady" when I hit "quote" button.

Nope, that nickname came from Soviet Union.

They will say that but trust me she did more bad than good, They wont talk about things that she did like CPC Redawn mentioned.

She was called the Iron Lady by all her "Pals" in Parliament.
She was called this because she was Ruthless and did things the way she wanted even when advised not too.

The thing is she was Ruthless to the wrong people and made many people suffer, The effects which are still being felt today like Council Tax which is a spin off of Poll Tax.

QFT...No joke, This was Thatcher in a Nutshell to those that lived through it.

RIP yes but also Good riddance!

Started war which resulted in Argentina returning to a democraticy instead of having military dictators as they did before the war.

    +1.

I have no idea what she was like as a human being, but as a politician she was a ****ing animal, her fiscal measures took a toll on the poorest, and she used the police force as her own personal army to attack the citizens of this country when they tried to fight for their jobs.

I certainly wont shed any tears for her passing after the disservice she did to this country.

Our view of Ms. Thatcher form the U.S. may be different. At least mine might be. I always thought she was a strong leader with a good moral compass and the integrity to do what she felt was right and just. Not saying some people didn't take it on the chin for some of her actions but i feel she did what she did for the good of the whole and did it with conviction. Hard decisions always result in tough consequences for some.

She was a great friend and ally of the U.S. and we always had each others backs. I can't think of two countries I would rather be allied in this entire world.

By the way, I'm 50 so I remember that period quite well.

How's that for a nice ending?
