Which should I go for Nintendo 3DS XL or 27'' PLS 2560x1440p Gaming Monitor?

If you have blinds, then sure, no real reason not to go glossy.

The actual panel is identical, the only difference is that the Asus has a proper warranty and a decent OSD (on screen display for calibrating). It also has a pretty conservative matte coating.

I did notice the X-Star has an 8 ms grey-to-grey time, whereas the PB278Q has a 5 ms grey-to-grey time. The 8 ms is probably a little low for gaming. There are other models that do 6 ms GtG, which is probably very borderline 'acceptable'.

    There's this one:

which supposedly can be overclocked to 125 Hz (but you'd only do it to 120 Hz), I guess that could be an option if you want a 2560x1440. That is, if you don't mind S-IPS over PLS. I have been tempted to actually get that one over the Asus VX279Q I'm waiting for (that's only a 1920x1080 monitor with the latest AH-IPS 5 ms GtG), coupled with the upcoming HD 7950 equivalent, but I guess I'll have to wait and see what my temptation decides. You'd need a pretty good video card to run the upcoming games at 2560x1440x120 Hz on the highest settings, so I'm leaning towards that Asus. That is considering the response time, panel tech, ability to get warranty if something goes wrong etc...

yeah 8ms is pretty high response for gaming honestly that is true. ASUS is more money but it's really better quality, unless there's a better one for around the same amount of money or bigger for that same amount of the ASUS like X-star or QNIX or something? Like a 29'' QNIX or X-Star with 6ms response and bigger for $500-600 lol..

Maybe I'll wait until the holidays for the ASUS 27'' PLS to go down in price..Unless there's a better one I'm unaware of..

Anything I can look at that's a PLS monitor that's not like $600 bucks like the ASUS PLS PB Series PB278Q 27" 5ms (GTG) WQHD HDMI Widescreen LED, that has a 5-6 ms response time and is a PLS monitor?

If they are your two options, the Crossover would be the better choice. 8 ms is just too slow for gaming.
