I was reading this when I stumbled upon this

It looks like Audigy series is back somehow, in PCIe form with a PCIe to PIC bridge chip. I hope it still can use kX driver :)

Unlikely for them to release new cards with a bridge chip when the Creative Sound Blaster Z / Zx / ZxR are all native PCIe cards.

I wonder if they using the old Audigy 2 chips or a brand new one.

Just did a comparison between the Audigy RX, Audigy FX and Sound Blaster Z.
EAX for the Audigy RX is up to 4.0 while the rest are all 5.0HD.
SNR for RX and FX are 106dB while Z is 116dB.
There's 7.1 surround for RX though.

For the pricing range it looks as if the FX is going head to head against Xonar DG while the FX against Xonar DS.

Maybe the FX is worth if you want to get a chap EAX 5.0HD soundcard with backward compatibility(EAX 4.0 and below).

Check out here. You can clearly see PLX bridge there. Why? because it uses old Audigy DSP, see reply below.

Yep they use the old Audigy DSP, see link above, its CA10300 to be precise, an Audigy 4 DSP and also being used on professional E-MU 1212M

Most probably the Audigy FX is using different DSP, and unknown if it uses hardware or software EAX but my guess is the latter since the DSP is small like the one on SoundCore. The original Audigy chip supports hardware EAX up to EAX4. Only X-Fi CA20K DSP support hardware EAX5.0

Has there been any reported difference in terms of hardware and software mode for EAX on XFI and SoundCore cards?

This will have to be dirt cheap when it comes out, if it's gonna compete with the xonar... Unless Eugene Gavrilov comes out of retirement, and makes some proper drivers (I'm speaking about kx project, of course).

AudigyFX, if the image on Newegg is correct, has a Realtek ALC898 chip with a Creative CA0113 sitting next to it which in that case the AudigyFX won't be any better than most integrated audio crap.... For comparison, the XtremeAudio card used a CA0110 chip. So, don't expect any hardware acceleration for EAX.

Thats a first Realtek and creative on the same card, the only one that look worth it then is the RX. I guess that explains how the FX has SBX pro then.

For the age of the DSP, I question whether or not the RX is even worth the price..... It's a pre-XFi DSP rebadged as Audigy5/RX. Personally, I'd rather pay the extra $10-20 to get an SBZ..... The RX is $70, the SBZ is $80-90....

The RX is aimed at recording from the look of it.
