    Can't decide between 280x and 770gtx

From what I have seen in benchmarks 280x is on par with gtx770(in some better) but that depends on the card etc. Now in the UK the 280x is £60-70 less which makes is more affordable for me and I'm a bit hesitant which one to go for.

I'm a nvidia fanboy and would like to stick with them but as I said above price isnt justified atm for me. Now I can wait a little longer but really would like to replace my Gtx 470 as it is almost like an airplane.

I am looking for thoughts and opinions. Cheers.

    Are you talking about a GTX280 vs. a GTX770?

    AMD R9 280X, of course. :)

The GTX280 does not cost less 70£ than the GTX770, it would cost a lot less.

honestly If I was in your shoes, I would grab an Asus 280x and save the 100dollars for something else. Drivers for AMD are fine now and I have both an Nvidia card and AMD.

You said 280 first. Fix OP and title. 280 is not out yet.

Between 280X and 770, 280X offers better price/performance. If you want to stick with green team, your options would be to either wait for 770 price drop or get a GTX 680, which can be found for the same price as 280X.

go for a nice 770, or wait to see if 770 ti appear soon. If you're a BIG BATTLEFIELD FAN THE PERHAPS consider switching to the reds.
    sry for caps.

I'm thinking actually of both battlefield and call of duty. As I said the price is a lot different and the performance of gtx770 isnt just that much stronger to justify it.

In that case choose between 680 and 280X. 770 is just an overclocked 680 with better memory chips anyways.

OCuk has MSI 680 PE for 259 pounds. Even a liquid cooled model for 299.

they are soo close in benchmarks. if you want cheap mantel technology by AMD go for 280x
but if you want fast driver updates and physX. go for nvidia.
they are the same.nothing comparable. its like your comparing a different colors of apple(Green or Red) but the same taste. :)

lol. You should add "very costly" before 'physx' word. As increasing drawcalls makes mantle 'cheap'. Whereas, Two-wolves-fur-simulation causing titan to go from 400+fps to 65fps in 480p , should make physx the most costly .
And about drivers? Alot Changes occured while u were sleeping in a cave :p. Amd drivers are now alot better , may be superior to nvidia ones.

Well if you want to pay 100$ more for same performance (and physx) then get a GTX770, if not just a get a R9-280X.

AMD cuts driver support 2 generations later tho, unlike NVIDIA.

So if you plan to keep it for more than 2 generations get NVIDIA.

That GeForce 200 series is surely getting a lot of updated code in the drivers.

I would wait tillNvidia drops the 770 price. They pretty much have to so as to stay competitive.

Funny how people sayd that you should go with the 280 because a 770 is a rebadged 680. Because in fact the 280 also is a rebadged 7970. If you want more performance, go with the 770, if you want a better price go with the 280.
