The reason should be pretty obvious, they can't shrink the die this time. Refreshes would be just refreshes. Nothing amazing, nothing spectacular. They would get 0-30%, just like this refresh, so why bother? You can only milk the architecture for so much.

The architectures they have been making for the past few years have seen huge leaps and bounds each generation because they get the added benefit of shrinking the die and making the same designs more efficient, essentially for free. That time is running out. Now it's time to trim around the margins, to squeeze each design for every ounce.

You'll see a lot slower developments from now on, until we figure out something other than silicon. Or, at least, figure out how to make shrinking it further and further more reliable.

Like I said somewhere else...I see the "Titan aka GTX 700" series is nothing but spring cleaning of left over parts before next gen,Maxwell, hits the scene.

I hope the GTX780 is in the 500 to 600 euro range max because this sounds like the card i have been waiting for i have put up enough with my GTX 480 it's about time to retire it.

The 780 clocks should be nice as it can use half the GPU die for a heatsink. But 30% faster than 680 = actual Titan performance at release, so it seems more like a ballpark estimate to me.

I guess its a 770 or 760 ti for me. Should be a nice upgrade from my 470.

interesting the 770 looks very similar to my my 680`s and much cheaper to boot
670 is now a higher clocked 760 ti, 680 a higher clocked 770, the 780 pricetag looks very resonable for a gk110. hope its true

I think I'll stay with my 7870, maybe CF it. I paid $199 with a Far Cry 3 bundle, the same card is on sale for $215 with FC 3 Blood Dragon, Bioshock and Tomb Raider. So roughly $400 on two cards that can beat $500-$600 single cards with about $200 in free games.

Same here, another GTX670 will be good enough.

Wont be bothering with any of these cards as i dont need to, my card still is top regarding performance. I dont beleive in Sidegrades:).

Titan Ultra may tempt me though....

The titan's pricing is ridiculous, as will be any other titan variations, it's the 700 series or nothing, like the MSI 780 Lightning, or the EVGA 780 Classified. :)
    That, and watch dogs.
