Oh, I was kind of hoping for a link where Connect3d GTO users were posting their results. I was able to get my GTO2 up to 600 core and 600 on the MEM too but I didn’t try it at the same time nor did I test for stability at those speeds. 540/590 is rock solid though, stress tested and bested. All with the stock cooler. Personally, I would prefer a guaranteed X850XT PCB (with power connector) and R480 core with 1.6ns RAM then,….whatever you might get with the luck of the draw,….but if it will get you to where you want to go,….its all good IMO.
yeah, GTO^2 is a guarantee, this isn't. but it's still a good deal for those who don't have a ton to spend on a graphics card, or who don't want to spend a ton haha.. i don't know where i got that "clocks higher" thing, considering i looked into it again and the highest i found was shy of the cavalcade of GTO^2s hitting 600/600
Cavalcade? Not really. I've been monitoring the GTO2 threads at both TechPowerUp and XS and the average OC is something like 560/590, but most people seem to have better clocking mem than core, which is the opposite to what you want. If a lot of people were achieving 600/600+ then I would see more scores similar to mine yet currently I only remember seeing one or possibly two people who have beaten my score, and one of those was voltmodded and still only scored 73xx (+1xx on me.)
i apologize for my exaggeration i have, however, seen a number of people report their GTO2's stable at around 580 (core), as opposed to the _one_ report of hitting 591 from the connect3d group (so far).
Indeed the X800GTO2 has a rather high price in some places. I just came across a “Connect3D Radeon X800 GTO 256MB (VIVO) for $154 after $25 rebate. That’s a spectacular price if it can unlock and OC to X850XT PE spec. I might just buy it at that price. Too bad the RAM doesn’t seem to be cooled by RAM sinks by default like the X800GTO2 but at $154 I can work something out,…. Wow,…. wow, if i had a pci-e mobo... i'd snap that thing up. great deal. i love monarch, i've used them for at least a component or two for every rig i've built btw i spotted a connect3d gto @ 570/580, that makes i think the third i've casually seen at pretty high clocks, so apparently a number of them are in fact hitting higher clocks than my revised assumption gave them credit for. oh, and as of november 4th: success 59 : 6 failed. still very good odds.

Wow,…. The new nVidia 6800GS is really looking good!!! Naturally an X800GTO@540/590/16pp would consistently outperform the 6800GS,…I think but the typical X800GTO2 would cost more then the 6800GS which is ~$200 at newegg. The X800GTO2 is now coming very close to $300 Quasi 6800GT perforce at $200,…wow,…
It benches about on par with that of the 6800GT and it may OC a little too. In the Guru3D review it OCed an extra 55/55 core MEM.
I have just bought a Sapphire X800 GTo Fireblade its performance is amazing, 540/550 I got 3DMark05 5198 points nad after the benchmark the VPU core was 43C I have a long way to go... but what disturbs is that, even in silence mode, when the fan is at 30% , it is still noisy. of course not as nosiy as it is 100% but, when i get out of the power pin, it really makes a difference. Could it be broken? What should i do to degrease the noise when not in full load? Thanks
gertem, do you have the GTO with the X850XT PE cooler (dual slot design)? Did you unlock your core to 16pp? Most people would probably say just get an "Arctic Silencer" if you find the stock cooler inefficient or noisy or both.
Octavean, yes its with dual slot design and i like it a lot And i have solved the noise problem !!! I have discovered that Atitool had an built in "fan control" setting. I adjusted it to hold the vpu temp at 50C. and its superb now. It sometimes decreases the fan power to %2, and sometimes increases to 100%. Its great. No 16 pipelines. I am not sure if my Sapphire fireblade is capable of doing that.
