Interesting, the frostbite 2 engine is great at it's core imo, it's a question of how much time a team invests in optimizing/tweaking it for each game it's used in. But having EA in the back certainly doesn't help... we'll see.

Good news, FB 2.0 brings many performance improvements in DX11, and so far is the only engine to do so.

Image quality wise, i haven't been blown away by any FrosBite 2.0 games, and don't know about advanced DX11 effects like tessellation or DOF, as none of them have used these extensively, but i would like to see the physics used well, would make the game very immersive.

just imagine bokeh dof, dx11 texture displacement, image surface reflection and of course dx11 advanced soft shadows and ssao

    the game would rock

They were both notorious for lackluster support, crappy AA, and virtually no updates.
When Nvidia contacted EA about color banding issues with Dead Space 2, they said they don't plan to fix it.

And how could they? Dead Space 2 had only ONE patch.
    Dead Space had ZERO patches!

EA lost more then three times value in last 4 years, and I'm not helping them get any better :)

Hm, i don't know, i never had a single issue with any of those games, so i never really saw a need for patches ;) From what i can tell they both ran flawlessly.

Infact using a complicated engine like Frostbite might necessitate patches :p Looking forward to it, improved graphics are a bonus! :D

Other than the 30fps vsync cap, I never found issues that needed a patch in the first game, it was very well optimised and incredibly stable, both games were.

Some might see it as support, but the more patches I see for a game, especially a SP one, the more I think it was released broken and unfinished, and I end up avoiding it for months, sometimes years.
Why pay full price for something unfinished if I can wait and get it cheaper and fixed.

Thankfully FrostBite 2.0 is also a very well optimised and stable engine, so there is nothing to lose, other than XP gamers, by changing the engine.

It might change the look of the game though, so while it will be an improvement technically, it might not look, or feel like a Dead Space game.

if a engine can handle a hugeeee map with 128 players i think it can handle little old aliens in cramp corridors

I already said this once - we will see more stuff from FB2.0 in the near future, this DS3 and MirrorsEdge2 just confirmed it. :)

Imo a good move from EA, although i must admit i was expecting a little fancier stuff from FB2.0, but still its ok.
