I think you should have mentioned that the 4850 is in the stores now while the GTX+ wont be out until sometime in July.

I do however agree that the 9800 GTX+ has thermals and power, but you must also remember by the time its actually able to be be bought it costs $30 more and AIB partners may be have their own custom (2 slot) coolers availble to purchase for the 4850. Also AMD's Powerplay isnt working in the current drivers (apparently) and should be considered its power (and possibly thermals) will drop by the time the GTX+ comes out.

Either way, price war shall continue and drop prices I say!

A very nice performer and a good choice, if you plan on going mid-range , imo.

p.s.: When are we getting updated VGA charts? :D

Have been working on them already, yet once all card test (read 4870) have been finalized I'll update the entire shebang.

The first 4870 is finally in though and Monday/Tuesday I expect another 3 or 4.

    Your comp specs over there

    <-----

shows you use those cards but you went out and bought 3xGTX280s? Don't take home work products?

    Great review like always :)

Saw a little spelling problem (i think...) on last page (The Verdict) line 2, (4859/9800GTX+) Isn't it suppost to be 4850?

It may confuse people if so...

    Thanks for the review.

Insane overclock, still not good enough for me to differ from the 4870

NVIDIA really got to work on their naming convention, they can't go forth and back from generation and use different schemes every generation!

Is it just my eyes or is the BFG 9800GTX OCX card clocked higher all around being a more powerful card than this new reference 9800GTX? Yeah I believe it is.

the OCX card has a 755 core, 1890mHz shader, and 2300memory.

Your better off going with the OCX card than this reference...unless of course BFG bumps up the OCX to a OCX+

i might use the 9800 gtx black edition for my summer build or the gtx 260, but if this were priced around $200 it would so beat the 4850 hd:flip2::flip2::flip2:

my problem is with the 300-500 price range there's really nothing that NVIDIA offer that really fits

Either too high to SLI or too weak for single card

Performance shelled by the GX2 isn't sufficient for me, hence why I'll go for 4870 Xfire
