Haven't seen any GTX 570 reviews yet, but expecting 'GTX 480 performance' with a higher price tag (I see a 400€ price, where two MSI Hawk GTX 460 1GB cost 10% less). Price/performance ? Ppl with the right PSU and mobo, which to take, GTX 570 or GTX 460 1GB SLI or something else ?
I Think the 460 sli is the more powerfull of the two setups. http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/9522/aliensvspredator.gif http://img695.imageshack.us/img695/3624/badcompany2v.gif http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/7282/lostplanet2.gif but it is more costly 400usd vs 350usd
Even if 460 SLI is more powerful (only slightly), the benefits of a single GPU are something to value as well. I would take a single GPU over SLI any day.
yes, SLI can be difficult at times, and honestly...I've tested playing new games with only one GTX 460 (Black Ops, BC2 @ 2048x1152), went as good as with SLI :O ! My 460 Hawks run 800/1600/1850 with -50mv from MSI Afterburner (~0.962v)
sweclockers.com created an performance index of cards in games (no synthetic benches like 3DMark Vantage) GTX460 SLI is 19% stronger at stock freq and I belive it oc's better than GTX570. btw, I now see GTX570 matches the price of two GTX460s... I could easily live with one GTX570, just that price is high...drop it 10-15% more?
I bought 2 460s from a Guru here and was using one as the other was meant to go to a freind, but now that he's backed out I think I'm gonna use 460SLI, was planning a move to a 570 but looks like my system would actually be superior
The benefits of the 460 sli setup is a little more power and your are ready for nvidia surround. You need 2 GPU's if you where thinking of using 3 screens. I love my 460 sli setup. A powerful affordable setup.
570 may be a little slower... but better for the future. You could go GTX 570 in sli once the price drops down to at least $250.. or something. I would go for one high end card over 2 med range card any day. ^_^ The 460 GTX 1gb cost $200-220.. so you'll spend more than a single GTX 570.
heck i just had two 460 hawks for $280 usd in f/s section was best deal in the world if you ask me.they fly even compared against a 580 let alone a 570 btw they sold.
460 sli is faster, but the 570 is a better option. 460 sli is a dead end upgrade as you can only run 2x 460s together. no future upgrades are possible without replacing both cards, although you can always use them as physx cards. but with a single 570, you always have the option of adding a second/third/fourth down the track when prices drop. or even if you plan to upgrade to a next gen card, its easier to sell one card than it is to sell two.
^^^^ This. I was in the same dilema, the gtx 460 sli is better a bit in terms of performance but not by much ...the downside is that dual gtx 460 is not that futureproof since it's limited to sli cant do tri-sli, i bought one gtx 570 and when prices go down i will buy a second one... for now i'm happy with only one gtx 570 , only game that drops under 30 fps with all details maxed and supersampling (8x) is metro 2033 , just cause 2 runs above 30 fps with everything maxed even cuda and 32x AA supersampling (8x) crysis runs 32+ with 16xQ ...all these on 1920x1080 resolution , i think thats powerfull enough for one card. also my card (Palit GTX 570 ) is stable at 900/1800/2010 overclock with 1.100 volts so i think that is a pretty nice overclock from 732/1464/1900
Whats the rush to upgrade from 460's? sli when overclocked even alittle its a whole new amimal. Unless your rich with 460's in sli the next real "upgrade" is nv 6xx's So by the time you get around to 570 sli it's also a dead end upgrade i dont care if you have 10 of um in...so whats your point? I think its better that you cant use tri with these cards tri is not worth the p/p at all My philosophy in fps type games is two mid range cards has a edge in most resolutions.
^ agreed I got my 460 SLI after selling a 5970 (got the 460s cheap tho) and they are great, I don't think I'll be upgrading until much much later, they are great at 1920x1200, don't need more power
The GTX 570 in sli will beat any single 6xx's series, whereas the GTX 460 in sli won't be able to beat a high end 6xx's card. Will end up selling the GTX 460 for cheap because nobody will be interested to that... they will be interested to 5xx's series. So if you have GTX 460 in SLI , screwed.. need to sell those in the future. If you own a GTX 570.. good, because you can buy another one. ^_^ My brother spent $800 on a PC; he's going for GTX 460 in SLI in a few weeks. He's going to stay with one for now. I want to compare once he gets the second GTX 460 because our system are similar... I hope to make videos, etc.
i didnt realize there are so many of us here that sport 460 SLi, i absolutely love my setup. nothing slows it down sofar ... only way i'll be upgrading is if i cant run BF3 at a constant 60fps, and i dont think that'll be an issue.
i have had zero issues with SLi ever since i went dual GTX260. the odd time you might have to make you own sli profile untill a driver update comes along, but besides that, the issues are VERY minimal! i'll keep going sli as i have for years and years now ...
