Hmmm, after reading this and the other reviews, and looking at the numbers I'm beginning to wonder why did Nvidia even create the castrated 470 aka Geforce GTX 465? As from the numbers the $50 to $75 USD they cost isn't even worth it from a performance standpoint.
Ah, good to see you'll have a 460 1024MB SLI article coming as well. It will be interesting to see how the additional ROPs and frame buffer affect the product. I have a feeling that they'll prove most beneficial at 1920 and above. Still, even these models were pretty impressive with their scaling.
How's the minimum fps compared to GTX470 and GTX480 ? Gameplay feels smooth even when fps hits around 30 ? I'm seriously thinking about buying two of these...
i'd get two 1g 256 cards thuo for sli and higher res. i think i read that the boss wil have 1g review up tommorrow 490 preview no waiting till august
I'd wonder how the Palit GeForce GTX 460 1024MB Sonic Platinum will perform in sli, it might even catch up with the gtx 470.
Problem with that card is that it's 263€ here... Cheapest GTX 470 is 299€ from Pixmania and 319€ from elsewhere.
...don't see any reason why this puppy won't be the mid-range king for the rest of 2010 - NVIDIA ought to get plenty of sales with this GPU I imagine.
Fermi SLI scales way awesome, when I first installed my cards a month ago and ran my first game, I was amazed at how much better it was than my old 260's.
I don’t think SLI scaling has anything to do with the cards it’s all about the driver and how it takes advantage of the graphic cards according to each game, I remember how NVIDIA released the GTX 295 it really scaled well much better than if you but two GTX 260 in SLI, that is why old graphic cards don’t perform as well as they should because the manufacturer has no more interest in promoting old products, that is what we call marketing, I know this because I’m a marketing manager myself and I’m only being honest with you and I hope I don’t offend anybody by saying this because I like NVIDIA & I always buy their products but people have to be aware that NVIDIA have a very aggressive marketing behaviour they released the GTX 470 & GTX 465 to compete with certain ATI product when they had a much better & cheaper product in hand and they have a new one in hand which is the GTX 490 that most likely combines two GTX 460 to compete with the ATI’s 5970 cards, to be honest they are very good at this but some time it could backfire especially when ATI are getting ready to release a enhanced series of the 5000 chips, I seriously believe people should speak their mind not be blinded by their loyalty to a certain brand.
It has improved none the less, fps is almost double, as it should be. If they keep this up, I might actually consider SLI next time I upgrade.
