Whatever the reason they started reusing the name simply because they own it, I can't imagine them rebooting some Quest series from Sierra On-line.

Sierra had the original publishing rights to Half Life also didn't they?

Great studio, loved many of the games you guys listed.

Would like to see Broderbund IP redone or remastered also.

I think they'd be more interested in rehosting Homeworld, Halflife, or maybe even SWAT :D
Anyway, not too impressed by it, and propably just reusing the names to get people's attention.

If they got the main people back, but hell how about rehiring all the 80s EA games people since they knew how to make games being gamers themselves back then.

You got war for the overworld if your missing dungeon keeper anyway and its looking decent.

Janes combat simulations, sierra, lucasarts, bullfrog, black isle, infocom, microprose, all names they could dig up and try and cash in but all studios that have moved on.

Meanwhile the best hope for old school glory is the kickstarters and the like with divinity and hopefully project eternity being on that level.

I have doubt though any major studio digging up a company name is anything more than trying to milk an ip. Everyone that seems to have a clue is going outside of the publishers to get it done. The suits at the top do not get games they do not like games and they care only for profits.

Yep, this series is one of my favorites as well.

I'd love to see a new PQ, but basically the original PQ gameplay with better visuals and sound and not one of the ubiquitous 're imaginings' perpetrated by clueless f*ckwits whose only concern is how much money they can make by using a trusted franchise name to dupe people.

It'll probably just Sierra in name only and I always thought Sierra is more of a publisher than game maker so I don't feel anything at all with their 'comeback'.

That is exactly what it is.
They are banking on people getting excited for the nostalgic value around the Sierra name. And using that to draw people in.
