    Hi everyone.
Im going to buy a gaming pc and I cant choose between these monitors:

    Asus pg27aq 4k 60hz
    Asus pg279q 2k 144hz

Both monitors have Gsync and IPS panel so good for gaming

    Here is my system specs...
    Cpu: 7700k
    Ram: g.skill 32gb 3200mhz
Gpu: rog strix 1080 ti oc SLI

And my purpose is games and not all of them. Mostly RPG & openworld & third person shooter & adventure
I dont plan for hardcore FPS games like csgo, maybe sometime I play battlefield.
Will my system have enough power to be stable on 60fps in 4k for a while with high settings?

And I heard about new monitors with HDR and Quantom dots, is it wise not to buy these two and wait for new monitors?

Forget about HDR and Quantum dots, it's marketing gimmick.
I would go for the 2K 144Hz. Playing at 100Hz+ is much cooler than doing it at 60 even at 4K, and playing at 144 sustained fps is uber-cool.
1440p is aleady much more demanding than you may think. What i think is that you will regret if you go 4K when you see yourself forced to turn down graphic detail in every game.

    Good luck!

I agreed with your idea about hdr more or less.
However everyone else and myself think it wont be hard for 1080ti sli to render in 60fps with no problem, in worst case I rather turn off AA.

That's assuming you can get SLI to function properly in the games you're playing, SLI isn't the same beast it was a couple of years ago.

I'd also opt for the 2k/144hz screen over going 4K at the moment, although my preference would be a good 3440x1440 monitor at 100hz +.

I would say a 27" 144Hz 1440p monitor is the preferable choice. Once you get to 90Hz/90FPS, games look simply awesome. No comparison to 60Hz.

There's IPS 144Hz 4K HDR G-Sync monitors coming later this year :p They're gonna be expensive though ($1500 would be the cheapest, $2000 the norm.) However, even a 1080 Ti is not good enough for 4K at high frame rates. With 1440p, you can usually achieve 100FPS.

Also note that a 1440p 27" monitor has actually HIGHER effective resolution than big 4K TVs.

Warning: once you play at 90FPS and up, 60FPS will look like crap. First world problems :p You get used to it again, but it takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
