Must have been lucky. My ASUS PA248Q monitor does not have this bluish glow mentioned earlier. Would have to agree, it is all in the calibration.

No amount of Calibration can fix IPS Glow.

Viewing angles are something that should not bother gamers. They sit right in front of the panel.

But what does concern me is the input lag. What is the input lag on this monitor please? With or without black frames being added makes a difference?

Also if it is 10ms is that even noticeable?

Lastly the review above stated "The FG2421 uses a VA panel, and VA panels typically display less accurate colours than other types of panel technology, but much deeper blacks. "

The colours are not as good as IPS? I thought the colours were meant to be great on these types of monitors. As good as IPS but much better than TN. Now I'm confused.

The Panel is 10-Bit, but the Hardware doesn't allow full use of 10-Bit.

Apart from that it's 16.77 million colors, same as the EV Series from EIZO. I have an EV2436W and the colors are great.

    10 ms isn't that noticable. On a 60hz monitor you wouldn't even notice it if it's below 16ms (1/60 = 0.016, so that's less than one frame)
On 120hz, it would be 1/120 = 0.0083, so anything less than 8ms is unnoticable, but 10 would be if you're very, very sensitive ánd your game is running at more than 100fps constantly.

VA panels have much better color reproduction than TN and much better black than IPS. A good IPS monitor could have better color reproduction than VA, but the difference isn't that extreme. I'd say on the whole a TN panel gets 3/10 for color reproduction, a VA panel an 8/10 and an IPS a 9/10. But the ips glow on dark screens is annoying indeed.

I think most of those lightboost tn panels have bigger than 10ms input lag.

That latency is additional latency. It doesn't matter if it's less than a frame or more than a frame since the frame will now take an additional 10ms to be displayed = more input lag. Now if it's noticeable or not, that depends on the input lag in the whole chain. 10ms by themselves are not really noticeable by most (if not all), but the chain has much more than 10ms of lag.

Strobe length is 1.4-2.4ms. This means that you will see the frame 8 - 2.4 = 5.6ms to 8 - 2.4 = 6.6ms after it's sent to the monitor and the pixels start transitioning. So that's 5.6 - 6.6 ms of added latency over normal mode.

Given that they already have very low lag, like the Asus monitor (0.6ms?), it's less than 10ms.

Apparently keeping the 240hz on adds additional input lag. How much I don't know but at least it can be turned off. I was hoping to use this feature though.

If I remember correctly that is. Can't find reliable measurements. But anyway, I doubt this has any real word difference compared to the rest.

    EDIT:
Wow... that expertreviews review is absolute rubbish. That guy has no clue how that 240Hz thingy works or what it is.

BENQ XL2411T, BENQ XL2420T, BENQ XL2420TX, BENQ XL2420TE, BENQ XL2720T – all these monitors are reviewed as sub 10 ms input lag…

Having tested the XL2420T myself over a year ago now, I can attest to its godlike input lag when using the 'instant' display mode - could not believe how much of a difference it made versus the extremely competent BenQ FP241W 60Hz I was using at the time.

I upgraded to the Dell 2413 earlier this year - sub 10 ms input lag and superb IQ.

This is something awesome. The major problem for me is that I already have a really cool monitor except for input lag and I've got no idea what I'd do with it :/

Regarding 80fps/120Hz question - you'll have either tearing, but much less noticeable than with 60Hz due to smaller difference between frames or a little jitter with vsync. The fame skip time adds ~16.7ms for 60Hz, and ~8.3ms for 120Hz; also, dropping to <60fps won't be as bad: 1 frame each tick = 120fps, every 2 ticks: 60fps, 3 - 40fps, 4 - 30fps. You're getting that extra notch at 40fps compared to 60Hz, which should make some difference in the perceived screen "jumping".

Effectively, if they made 240Hz screen, it wouldn't be that stupid. Maybe you won't see any difference if the frame rate is 120fps+, but you'd get many good refresh rate to fps ratios below this point, sooo there are available "fps rates" for each refresh:
    60Hz: 60, 30, 20, 15, ...
    120Hz: 120, 60, 40, 30, 24, 20, 17, ...
    240Hz: 240, 120, 80, 60, 48, 40, 34, 30, 27, 24, 22, 20, 18, ...
It looks like it would make G-Sync obsolete.

Also EIZO's so-called 240Hz mode shouldn't introduce any noticeable lag, a it is just a 120Hz with half of each frame dimmed; you'r waiting for transition anyway, so the lag is 0-4ms

    HI,
I owned FG2421 for 3 days. I have mixed feelings from him. If you have some question - ask.
