We don't celebrate many holidays here. I made some stuff for my in-laws, my sister and her family. I prepped a 20lb beef brisket a couple nights before and started smoking it the night before. Made some mac and potato salad, green beans, and corn. They ate like kings.
Thanksgiving doesn't have much to do with it's origins now just like Halloween. Didn't eat too much but turkey, sweet potatoes, apple pie, etc...was damn good.
Why should we even care? We have our own traditions like Melbourne Cup day, eat turkey at Christmas, and have ANZAC day, and other countries also have their own. Actually, if you look at it objectively, Thanksgiving is only celebrated in one country (the US), Canadian thanksgiving is different, whereas the Australia ANZAC day, started in Western Australia, is a holiday in Australia, New Zealand, Cook Islands, Niue, Pitcairn Islands, Tonga, and is also observed (but not as a public holiday) in several locations in other countries, including the US! It's true it's meaning is incomparable to Thanksgiving, but it is an event of remembering and giving thanks that actually has meaning to people, and not just seen as a holiday which I have heard is what people generally see it as in the US now (not trying to be critical, just what I've heard!).
I guess i will wait for that thread so i can post that i could give a rats ass about it. Nah i have alittle class
Turkey, stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes with garlic, cheese, and bacon in it, and tequila berry salad. Topped it off with apple pie straight out of the oven and a scoop of ice cream.
In Canada we celebrate it about a month earlier, had turkey, breaded fish fillets, rice, tiny potatoes, corn, steamed asparagus and some wine. Happy Thanksgiving my American brothers.
