Exoplanets were already discovered decades ago. The first confirmed discovery was in 1992.

This news conference is about something new, what that is yet remains a mystery (at least for a few more minutes!). Probably about analysis of an exoplanets atmosphere and the discovery of oxygen or something compelling like that.

So, today dummy masses are being prepared... that life in universe is abundant. (Some of us already knew.)

When is next announcement? (Our neighbors.)

Seven earth-like exoplanets orbiting a really cool star that's not much bigger than Jupiter. The stars are also orbiting much closer to the star, with the closest Earth analogue planet, TRAPPIST-1e, orbiting the host star 6.1 days. There are three planets in the system that could host surface water, so they say.

    Watched it... Meh.
More tidally locked planets bathed in far too much radiation.
Have to wait for the james web telescope to be launched before anything profound can be discovered about these planets atmospheres.
Wake me up when they can analyze the atmospheres.
    Hopefully next few years.
NONE of these is (afawk) "earth like" except in size and orbit.
That's all they have. Size and orbit. Doesn't tell you shi-t about the atmosphere.

Now get ready for the dumba-s media idiots to way overblow this....

Given the name of the system, there's bound to be cheese there! A cheese planet - sign me up!

I'm going to bet that with further study, they will determine infact that life would be highly unlikely to exist on those planets.

We have parts on the JWT. And on the Rover, and in the new Orion rockets.
40 light years is right next door in the astronomical world.
    This is REALLY BIG.
I find it curious that Arthur Clarke also described a planet-soon-to-be-a-star, that was Jupiter.....sized.
He was so far ahead of his time.
My advice to you all, rejoice in this new age of astronomy, it is the stuff of dreams for the older guys like me.
Once the JWT gets online, it will change the world.
I'm worried, along with many others, that we, as a planetary whole, aren't ready for what we may find.
    I am....lets do it!

What about this niburu, i keep seeing videos about it, is it fake or what?
They claim it's orbiting behind the sun, but i never see it wich leads me to believe it's another fake doomsday believe.

I'm 100% sure it's fake, as i never saw it on the news or on any big news site.

(Seriously, they should arrest these people for making people scared to death, i even see kids react on tho's video's.
Sadly i get these video's in my recommended section as i watch a legit science channel)
