AMD injected a new SKU. We review the 115 EUR AMD A10 5700 APU processor. Based on Trinity APU architecture this processor slash graphics hybrid symbiosis called APU remains hard to beat in terms ... AMD A10 5700 APU gets tested and a review
"All over the place"... this pretty much sums it. And it's not just A10 5700K, but the whole AMD lineup.
If you're looking for a system with integrated gpu, this would be a nice choice price/performance. But if you got a dedicated gpu in your system an i3 2nd or 3rd gen is the way too go. It beats the A10 5700k/5800k in almost every way excluding IGP.
This review does not cover the APU as a whole but only the CPU part, If you read it, they added a GTX 580 to the system and never used the GPU part of the APU.
For APUs, it might be a good idea to include a little more focus on the GPU half of the equation. The CPU performance for a product like this is secondary. Most people will be interested in capability of doing various tasks and power draw while doing it. Not raw CPU power. You've got like 7 or so slides exploring the CPU's speed and 1 about the GPU in a product that's built around the GPU.
We have this setup as our HTPC and it's great. Plays HD and BluRay content just fine, even some Steam games the grandkids (ages 7-10) like play fine. It's not an A10-5700K, it's an A10-5700. It does not have an unlocked multiplier as K models do. Comparison of Part Numbers (directly from AMD Desktop APU list): AD5500OKA44HJ AD5700OKA44HJ - A10-5700 (Locked) AD580KWOA44HJ - A10-5800K (Unlocked) AD560KWOA44HJ - A8-5600K (Unlocked) Unlocked models have the final 0 in the OPN as a K, which is the immediate sign. Though I do understand where the confusion was, since it is easy to overlook, as the OPN on the heatspreader has an "O" and "0" that look identical. It ends up looking like 57000K instead of 5700OK. Happens to the best of us! :O lol
If my HTPC dies out of the blue, this will definitely be a great replacement for the AMD Athlon X2 3600+ powering my HTPC right now lol. deltatux
