I see no reason to upgrade from my 680.

It should improve your PC's capacity as a space heater by a fair margin. Can't just ignore that. Not in this winter...

    errrm I play the game...

The game is playable ranging from a 9600Gt on low @ 720p up till a GTX680/HD7970 as those are the only cards that maintain 60fps for most of the time @1080p on Ultra 4xMSAA.

How is that game a console port?

Really? From how it plays I would've never guessed it, then again the amount of patches that have flooded through gigabytes in size could explain that.

EA confirmed last year Crysis 3 would launch with high res textures and DX11.

TBH if im gonna spend that kind of money id rather just drop another 690 into the the other PCI-E slot as it will easily smoke 2 of these cards if the specs are correct.

I game at 1920*1200 (IPS) so for me the amount of ram is ok and a second 690 would be plausible at this resolution.

Now all i gotta do is find some games that use this amount of power...there arnt any.

    Somehow i see 85% of a 690 a bit too much, Personally i think 20% more than a 680 is more realistic.

This card may not even be the TRUE 780 its more likely to be what a says A Titan from all the binned chips.

A TRUE 780 could appear once TITAN is history.

My current 680 ain't going anywheres, we've been through a lot together, like you and your card, Veteran with the bios unlocking and all, if anything i'll get another 680 but only if a game is deserving.
i can indeed see this titan at around 85% of 690 power actually, however the gtx 780 will be around 30% improvement over 680 imo.

They said the same thing about Crysis 2 and look what happened with that.

I don't recall anyone around here ever trying to make such a claim, that "big kepler" would be just as efficient per clock or even in the same ballpark. From everything I've read over this past year, the comments even from the most ardent nVidia fanboy have clearly stated that it's going to be a much more powerful card especially in GPGPU, but with that huge increase in transistors will come lower efficiency, more heat, and of course more cost.

For those of us who own a GTX 680 like myself, the chances of me buying this new monster of a card will be slim to none. It would have to be at least 2x as powerful as my GTX680 and have a price tag of $500. If not, i'll be quite happy with my current card... and perhaps if the price drops enough a second 680 may an option if I ever get a third Ultrasharp IPS 24". :)

The difference this time is that Crytek showed off Crysis 3 in high resolution AND using DX11 almost a full year prior to release. No such thing happened prior to Crysis 2 except for some non official talk about DX11 and high res textures, with zero evidence of such a project even being in development. It was clear to many of us that the entire high resolution and dx11 pack were not even started till after Crysis 2 release.

If this card were really going to be a consumer card, which it isn't, two 690s wouldn't come close. We have seen that the fourth card in a video card setup is largely dead weight. More often than not it actually lowers the performance in games.

You'd be silly to put two 690s in something for the purpose of gaming.

Only if 2 of those cards are at minimum 30% faster than what I have now :nerd:

Depends on the resolution your gaming at. Any triple surround setup at the highest graphics is going to benefit greatly from the second 690.

Also that scaling issue isn't from SLI, it's from the fact that you're bottlenecked by the CPU. If a "780" card came out with the same number of cores as two 690's and ram and everything it wouldn't perform that much quicker I bet.

There are a few on this forum that will buy it just because it's the fastest single GPU....and some will buy it just for e-peen.... And someone will buy it just for it's folding potential....
