I'm only using a caviar green with timer set to 300s so it's not constantly spinning down but I'd like suggestions for good defrag software.

I've tried o&o 20 with the sort by name method but I feel like it actually introduced fresh stutter to a lot of the games on there.

What do you guys use... Any recommendations?

In old times I would say - only Norton Utilities` Speed Disk - its presentation of work was mesmerizing.
But now I am too lazy to search and use Windows` own defrag.

Ha ha, Windows defrag is not optimal though is it? Would be good to get some more opinions people.

Another popular seems to be IObit SmartDefrag.

The one with the most functionality is Perfect Disk Pro by raxco.

You can defrag different ways, have the most used files on the outer platters so that they get the best performance of the disk.

I use Puran Defrag and find it to be the best out there. It can do boot time defrag and has a very good optimizer function. In the boot time defrag, it will also defrag the registry and page file. You can also set up scheduled defrag. You should check it out. It's free too.

I still use Mydefrag, with custom scripts I made from my HDD based drive.

The creator of this has stoped updating it and forums been closed so it might be hard to track copy down.

The easiest way to have MyDefrag with a GUI ( MyDefrag does not have a GUI ) is to download MyDefragPowerGUI 1.0.4 extract the file into a folder and run " MyDefragPowerGUI.exe ". It will then download MyDefrag into the same folder.

Place the folder just of the root of your drive. Do not place the folder on your desktop. ex. C:\MyDefragPowerGUI and extract the files in this folder. Run as an administrator. Good to Go!!

Works with Win 10 including x64.

It's also portable. Copy the whole folder onto a Thumb Drive and use it anywhere.

I dabble between Defraggler and Windows own utility.

Defraggler replaced the windows disk defragmenter if you choose to so no need to use both.

He released a version with a built in GUI a few years ago, but it's difficult to find the .exe now that he closed his forum and disappeared. 4.3.1 is the version number.

For some reason, the new AdwCleaner removed anything made by Auslogics from my system.

I'll repeat it again, try Puran Defrag. I don't think you'll ever go back to anything else.

Diskeeper is very good for large media storage. Now i moved all my media over to a plex server with only a q9550, but diskeeper 15 keeps that 30tb smooth. (diskeeper 16 is even better but i think the upgrade is to expensive).
