So I have my monitor hooked up via DVI cable and my TV Hooked up through my Sony AMP via HDMI. I am able to have sound when my TV and Monitor are BOTH ON. If I turn my TV OFF, the sound remains but my monitor TURNS OFF automatically. Basically, I need audio through HDMI while using my monitor (DVI) without having to turn my TV on. Is this a Driver Problem??
Are they in eyefinity group? If not I see no reason for TV turning off LCD signal. And it's definitely software related.
They are not in an eyefinity group. I have tried rolling back the drivers, and also the beta drivers, but to no avail. I did not use driver removal software though. I have a feeling that the problem lies with the ATI HDMI Audio drivers not playing well with the standard display drivers. The drivers should be smart enough to say 'The tv is turned off now, I will still allow video through DVI and keep audio only though HDMI'
That is actually way I got sound of my PC for some time. I've use LG TV for sound output, but display was off due to power saving feature. And I was playing on normal LCD. It never turned LCD off. But I was running 7xx0 series, 5xx0 may behave bit differently.
