Save your money. Just buy a new graphics card and more RAM. Put the rest in the bank for something later. Buy a nice 22" if possible.
hope you know 5k of computer will be out dated in 6 months and dx11 cards with 40nm are about 4 months away so a quad or tri sli would be tarted.
Ye jus get a new GPU (4890) if u jus wanna game otherwise if u must have a fairly highend PC, I'd say Corsair HX 850 PSU - Enermax Revolution 1200W if you plan on going xfire/tri xfire in future i7 920 D0 Asus Rampage II HD 4890 - you can go for HD58XX series soon Antec 1200 case
Yep, I'm gonna agree with people on this one. I think you should get a new rig once the new graphics cards come out and get a 2k worth rig, not something uber like 5k... Anyways, then you should get i7, 6, maybe 12 if you need gigs of ram, SSD hard drives:nerd:, GTX300 or HD5000 series graphics card, some 850 w psu, maybe something like the new Corsair HX series psu, a good soundcard and a well ventilated case, here it is up to your liking, since you may not like the looks of the case ppl might suggest... Anyways, that pc would kick major ass
Has it occured to any of you that the guy might be loaded, and that 5k is a piss in the sea for him? /No, I don't think it's wise to spend $5k on one computer.
I forgot to mention, that it's his money and his decision and we're here to give opinion on the subject
Core i7, EVGA classified Mobo, Corsair 12GB RAM, 2x Asus MARS!, PC power and cooling PSU, Promethian MAch2 Phase change cooler
I fully agree with you. People spending uber money on their systems but always the monitor gets left out. High end system needs to run to its full potential to do it justice and justice for yourself 30 inch is the way.
classified is good for people that have too much money that they could use each doller to wipe their but with after they take a dump. Thats whats so good about it . But, yeah, I mean if you actually do want to blow a lot of money, get an evga classified, do gtx 285 in tri sli. Or even better, you could go get 2 of thoes asus mars gpus. Then you have quad sli gtx 285's. Then you still have a slot left over, so, why not get a physx gpu, even tho we all know they dont do s**t for you. Drop an 975 i7 in there, maybe build some cryogenics thing so you can run it at 6ghz always. When it blows up, you probably will still have money to build another one! Sound good?
+1 Besides that I would go i7 975, Evga X58 classified I would go for 2x 6 gb ddr3 pc12800 memory, 12gb is sweet. 2x 64 gb intel ssd discs 1x 1tb western hdd OS on the ssds and data on the 1x tb hdd Nice 7.1 asus/creative soundcard Nice speakers, 150W each and a high quality subwoofer ( sourround gaming + 30" mon will be nice for both movies and games ) I would not buy a graphics card yet, wait for the next gen, buy a single 275 GTX now and then sell it and re invest in SLI 300GT or 5870 wichever performs best at the release time. Win 7 for OS. Corsair HX1000W allround top 3 best psu, and their support IS the best, no question about that. And yah as John said a nice 30" mon, from nec..will cost alot but will be worth it. I recently followed Johns advice on a 26" LG W2600, and it is awesome, even gotten 2 since that .. Last question is to watercool or not..if your not that into OCing and tweaking ( except just getting it oced and then be done with it ) I would go air cooling. Water needs to be maintained, and you need a clue to build a nice WC rig. As for the case I would go with an antec 1200, TJ09 hmm yah those 2.. They are quite big but sometimes I feel my antec 900 is too small..so I would have gone bigged if I was about to buy a case today.
Well it supposedly have improved voltage regulation, wich could be nice for high OCs where vdrop and vdroop fuchs with the load temp. And yah 4x pcie ports wich means you can place your soundcard in a nice spot where it isn't to close to the gpus or the psu ( if it is bottom mounted ). But yah 500 bux vs 250 bux for a regular evga x58.. most would go with the regular one
$5K USD is quit a bit of cash to dump into a PC. You can build yourself a monster for half of that, wait a year or two and do it all over again.
It has a 10-phase Volterra fully digital PWM that can output 800 watts. My board has a 8-phase Volterra fully digital PWM and has a maximum output of 600 watts... it makes no practical difference at all unless you're running 5GHz+ under DICE/LN2 or similar. It's a board for people with extreme needs... for anyone else it's a waste, unless you have alot of money to throw away (like the OP).
Well, I would recommend you spend like 2k in a system right now, Only with a single card like the gtx295 and a big case, check also the compatibility between the components, I had problem with Cosmos s and Cooler Master V8, that's a common problem. So wait until get the new graphics card (gtx300) and get a good Monitor, I would recommend you the Samsung t240HD Because it is 24", 1920x1200 resolution, Had alot of features and also you can use it like a TV, nothing bad when you are bored and wanna try something different. I would not recommend you a monitor bigger than 24" if you will play First person games because it is too big will hurt your eyes. Also include there a Logitech g9, Razer Mantis Mouse Pad Control Edition, A Logitech system Audio 7.1 and A Razer Headset like the Megalodon, Don't forget to add a good sound card. There are keyboards from razer and logitech, Try one of thoses I can't recommend you one since I've not tried any of them. You will spend like 1k in this last stuff and I recommend you it since it will give you a better conform to your game experience. ily_4_ever_4@hotmail.com Add me in your msn to talk better if you wish, bye.

Probably would cost a lot more though.
I like the setup above, except ditch one of the GTX295's, I hear they don't scale well. I would either go for a single GTX295 or even better x2 GTX285 2GB cards.
In that case, it would be better to get two BFG GTX 275s and OC the crap out of them, compared to throwing away money on GTX 285s, right?
