works with any card i was referred to version 1.2 of this months ago and it cleared up nfsu stuttering at the start of the race and i'd like to correct hilbert in something lowering the latency on a system allows the video bus more usage of the cpu a system with 248ns on the agp bus takes 248 cycles to use 128 and even 64 cycles lowers this timing allowing the video card to run smoother, in some cases the sound stuttering is also improved as you'll find alot of games the sounds are synched with video these days to keep sounds in the right place although i could be wrong thats just how i always saw latency as
can you go lower? perhaps maybe for each individual pc, would the results be more cpu cycles for the agp bus i have a 3500+ which gives me room to play with since its powerful
you can go as low as 2 i think latency has to be a multiple of 2 in some way 2 4 8 16 32 64 128 248 (won't max at 256)
no the 6600gt is more then the latency theres some heatsink failures on the xfx apparently and the oc is too high
i think thats the ONLY problem with the AGP 6600's. overheating due to poor or improperly fastened heatsinks .... just a guess tho
so I am confused...does lowering the latency help or hurt the perfomance of the Card? Which way increases load on the CPU from the GPU?
To everyone wondering how to set this,,,,If your pci latencey was at 32, leave it. If your agp was like 248 for nvidia. and 255, for ati, just set it to 64. I read where the ati cards force it back to 255, but theres a registry tweak to keep it from happening....I posted a link above that explains it pretty darn good...or just do a google on ATI video card latency, or something like that...There is plenty info on the topic..If you have an EVGA 6800GT..in the owners manual, they recommend setting it to 128....I did just that. I wasn't having any troubles, but my sound improved,,everywhere ! ... you just need to try 128 and 64..See what works best for your setup. It's not gonna give you better benches or anything, it will just even things out so that the video card won't have an opportunity to hog the bus....Smoother performance..not faster, just better. and less static and stutter in 3D games. Thats how I understand it... Good luck Brohiems
I set it correctly and mark it to save on startup, but it never saves. This is happening on the AGP setting.
Are you right clicking in the agp, and clicking change settings, and then change them, click apply, and then save, then just keep the check by load on startup That should work.. Try that
You can Also set it into ATI Tray tools in hardware -> General Settings. Edit: I havnt checked wether it correctly resets values on startup , this pc hasnt been off in days
