Hi, i want to buy something nice for myself. I'd like to have a phone again, cause my friends use tapatalk/whatsapp and ofc so people can contact me like work/contact persons. A budget tablet is also in my price range, i see lots of people using one. But i am unsure, cause it's like a computer right? But then portable.. I use always my PC at home, but it's still nice to have something portable if you go away from you're PC. I think tapatalk or whatsapp is also for tablet users?
Nowdays the main differences between tables and phones are the size of the screen, and most tablets are unable to make calls. Nothing else. O.S. / hardware / everything else is very similar. This sums it up. 1. If you want something confortable to carry around, buy a smartphone. (At least with a 4'' screen and some cpu/gpu power so you can enjoy some gaming) Trust me there are some games worth playing 2. If you want something confortable to read ebooks/manga on. a tablet is preferable. 3. If you want something between, theres always smarphones with 5'' screens like the galaxy note / HTC DNA (rather go to the galaxy note 2 tough) All of this ofc, if you would not miss, and more importantly NEED your x86 software from the desktop PC, if so, buy a laptop. But theres plenty of alternatives in the android/IOS platform. I personally rather have a smartphone with a nice gaming power and a kick ass screen (4 to 5''). But thats my opinion. Well, you have my advice. Cheers
If you're more interested in whatsapp and tapatalk I'd recommend a good smart phone over a cheap tablet. I don't believe whatsapp is available on tablets as it requires a phone number.
For Android you can actually go around the phone number feature with a tablet as long as you have a mobile phone. You can download the .apk and then use your phone number with the tablet and just use the SMS that is sent to the phone on the tablet.
Ok thanks for you're guys advice, then i'll go for a smartphone. I went for the Samsung Galaxy Y, i know it's not a good phone. But it's the best in my price range, i couldnt find a better one. Has wifi, internet, android 2.3(not sure if i can upgrade?), a 832mhz processor and touchscreen. I still have 16gb sd card i can put in from my camera. edit: I see i posted it in the wrong section, i totally overlooked the "tablet and smart phones" section.
Phone is not that powerful, you probably would have been better off with the HTC One V or Desire X. Even an older phone like the HTC Amaze 4G would have been better too. deltatux
a galaxy note 2 would be the best of both worlds. it also has a dock that lets you plug in a hdmi display, speakers, keyboard and mouse. alternatively, theres the asus padfone 2 - a 4.7inch phone that docks into a 10.1 inch tablet. honestly though, i would recommend getting the nexus 4 and nexus 10 instead of the asus padfone 2, as it would cost you the same but you'd end up with two fully functional nexus devices.
I would have to agree if you don't mind carrying a brick around in your pocket or on your belt the note is your "phone" if not the GS3 or iPhone 5 debate starts again.
Uhm....Guys he has a price range for all of you that are recommending a GS3 an Note 2 hence he went with the Galaxy Y
Bah don't pretend you've read every post in every thread you've been in. That's because it's underclocked while not doing anything to save battery life. For example a SGN will drop from 1.2GHz to 350MHz most of the time, and bump up to 700MHz while the screen is moving. On live wallpapers that can cause lag unless you manually adjust it.
What I want is a 7in touch screen laptop windows 8 with 256 gb ssd 16gb ram and with phone and camera and i7 cpu with dedicated gpu then whola I can replace all my devices with just one
