So does that mean that the problem must be either connected to my video card or to my mb ? Cause if it's my CPU I'm screwed.

the asus a8n is a pretty solid mb i've touched the chips alot of times on mine with it running and no problems.did you try setting your BIOS back to default settings. Also i had a similar problem one time and it was a faulty video card driver i had to install a crap card i had laying around bootup delete drivers and reinstall good card.

but see i'm a little bit afraid of touching my pc as of now, since i seem to have managed to already break it... And I don't want to take anymore risks. I hope you guys understand me, and I really do appreciate you trying to help me. I just hope that the guys at my pc shop can figure out the problem (and yes, the reason why i feel so keen on handing my pc over to them is because if anything goes wrong, I'll know who to blame ;))

So do I... and I'll post back here an tell you guys what it is. I have a strong feeling that it's the mobo though. Oh well, at least i still have 2 years warranty left hehe... I think what ill do is just lie and say that one beautiful afternoon i tried to boot my pc but i got no signal on the screen and i heard these funny noises...

I know it's wrong, but there's no way im digging up 160€ for a new mobo...

Hehe no, no younger brother to blame... But I can always blame my sister who lives in France lol :). Well, at least I now learned a valuable lesson: never, ever touch a pc with anything while it still has the power on....

Yes, I learned that the hard way too. Lucky only the psu died shortly after.

But i believe the beep codes are different for different bios brand. Not sure if Asus A8N-SLI is using "Award BIOS", but here is the definition for 1-long beep then 2-short beeps.

It has to do with video. Either the card itself, or any part of the channel that writes to video on your mobo.

I know you are taking it to the shop since you have warranty, i guess its best you let them deal with it. Good Luck.

Hey just a thought try this remove power cord take out you video card then put the power cord back on after 5mins and try to boot if it boots then let it run I know you won't be able to see the screen but just wait a good 10mins then shut down your comp take out the power card and put your video card back in try booting again. I had something similar happen to mine I tried everything until I pulled all power from the comp and it worked. Good luck
