Quick question, what was wrong with the maximus V gene?

The DCU cooler is taking up 3 ports. My soundcard was blocking one of the fans, and making contact with the graphics card. A minor gripe really. I didn't do my homework when I bought the gene, not knowing it was a mATX board.

Well, installed the board, Powered on. No picture, and the two mini fans installed on the board do not spin. Tested anther fan on the connection, still nothing. So it looks like both connection are faulty. All other fans spin including graphics card. Check for post lights for any clues, only light is Dram led. But this stays on even with the ram not present.

    Anyone got any ideas?

Double checked all your connections, CPU, GPU installations?

Only problem I had when installing the CPU was the H80 backplate bracket doesn't seat correctly on the back of the board. The HAF 912 case has a hole on the back but you have to install the backplate first before seating the motherboard. So I'm not sure if this is some how shorting the board or not.

I don't see any error lights appearing on the board for the CPU or GPU though. Only other thing I can think of is a PSU fault.

Probably a DOA board, what a shame.

I would rule out the potential short or other such issue before looking at your PSU.

Not a likely candidate when all you've done is switch your system over.

Gave up. Re-installed the V Gene without any problems. I did notice a couple of pins bent on the socket, which I did notice before. Still wouldn't be the reason why no error lights appear when no GPU, ram is installed. Same red light shows for DRAM.
