We need AMD to get back on the ball and release something that forces Intel to really innovate again. The last couple years, the only competition Intel has had, is themselves on desktop and ARM in mobile. Quite honestly, it feels as though Intel is becoming complacent in the desktop market.

Some of us just like to play with the "latest and greatest" .....when it's worthwhile anyway...

I've just upgraded to a 4820k from a 920 and I do not regret. I even thought I would have less gain than I really had at 4.2Ghz, and the 4820k is much cooler by almost 20ºC, on the same WC block. And DDR4 should be quite expensive at haswell-e time of release.

That's the plan or to go even higher, but for now is enough, since I don't have the time to play around with it. Even the ram timings are to high, with the xmp profile. Need time to fine tune it.

Must be pretty tough to jump from 22nm down to 14nm.

Won't be long till those pesky lil electrons start to fly off the wafer.

We need a new material that is better and cheaper, but does it exist and if so why hasn't it being announced yet.

I bet someone somewhere is testing a super semi conductor right now which would blow the game wide open. Come on U.S Military let us have the super chips plx. :)

Dimonds I think are the next step iirc they are working on synthesizing the materials needed.

Only a year now.. :) can't wait for Haswell-E with DDR4 benchmarks. Wonder if there will be a reason to upgrade then.

The Ivy Bridge E's will be as popular as a dead skunk in the middle of the road, with zero performance increase over Sandy Bridge for mega bucks and very hard to find new mega buck boards to mount new "E" based systems. The board makers already know Ivy Bridge "E" is dead in the water, you can tell by the huge numbers of new boards being released.
The nut jobs managing INTEL need to be fragged.
The date for Haswell "E" should be moved foreword to early Q2.
I'm keeping my X58 running till the "E's" show up!
