Yes, the leaf, as in the one shaped like those on the trees. It's a good thing Canada has the maple leaf. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/12/10/apple_applies_to_trademark_the_leaf/ Up next : Ents seen marching towards Cupertino.
If this trademark is issued, I think it's safe to say that Apple is buying off patent and trademark offices to get ridiculous patents and trademarks....
They did get a patent (not trademark, mind you) on the microphone logo of Siri, even when they acknowledged there were prior arts.
The problem is the patent and trademark system in the states not apple really they are just doing this before someone else beats them to it. However this does not make it right.
I didn't say it's not happen. This would just prove it. This trademark application was submitted in the UK....not the US.
I don't see this going through. At least it shouldn't. If it does the UK is just as borked as the US system.
big money talks in the uk even the gov is bent as a nine bob note , the rich get richer and the poor get screwed
It's the same in every country. Government is power, power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.
This is not in the UK, Its presented by an UK law firm and then European trademark office in spain will approve or reject this.
Okay in all seriousness lets think this out. Why would they try and trademark just the leaf the whole apple logo is trademarked iirc. So the only logical thing I can come up with on this is they are planing to use it as some kind of logo for an uncreated or known subsidiary of apple maybe just maybe they are seperating their mobile and home departments and making two companies under one umbrella company "apple". This could be a possibility and would make a bit of sense more so than they just feel like wasting money on lawyers to file a trademark so no one can use a leaf as a logo.
Or maybe they're running out of BS patents/trademarks to sue others over....so now they're looking for new patents/trademarks to use in court?
I already dont buy apple anything and one that has apple device that asks me to look at or fix it i tell them no and refuse to do any sorta help for them
In the past I may have considered their glossy IPS monitors since they were pretty much the only ones available (but never bought one due to the ridiculous 12ms response time and apparently high input lag, not to mention the stupid price tag) and I hate the grainy matte... but now I don't care if they actually do have the product I'm looking for (fat chance), I'm not buying anything they offer. Good thing I don't want anything they offer anyway!
