you can keep that ram @ xmp 2400, if its not stable @ cpu OC then raise cpu system agent voltage offset a bit from stock 0.808- 0.816v for 0.020 or 0.040v+

    Does it really need 1.35v? I see 3dmark reads it @ 4.6ghz, I would try 4.7ghz @1.30v next. :nerd:

Ok I'll try it with the memory up. I was under the impression that generally the higher the CPU Overclock the less the IMC can cope with memory frequency.

Yeah, I'm very apprehensive about that overclock, I was in the bios for literally 30 seconds. Given time I'll work out exactly what voltage this chip needs. Hopefully I've got a good one.

run firestrike extreme Physics test, i'm around 9.5k currently, if you can reach the same with reasonable temps then it's fine, my ol' 3570k couldn't do 9.5k at any speed and this hasn't even been pushed yet.

both firestrike physics tests run the same, normal or extreme, only combined part affects the difference.

btw I get 13450 physics score @ 4.7ghz., but ye I have HT and extra 2mb L3 :nerd:

I'm finding the Motherboard a bit difficult to work with actually.

On top of this being my first PC without an FSB, there's just a whole plethora of new settings that my old motherboard didn't have and that was the Rampage which is technically above the Maximus.

I mean how can there be 9 different levels of Load line calibration, surely it should just be on or off?

    set it to max.

@-Tj- yes we know you have the greatest chip ever seen by the human eye. :D

    yes it rocks :p

    @ OT

keep LLC at auto, also while you're in DIGI+ set cpu power current to 120% or even 130% if going beyond 4.7ghz, keep rest as it is auto or disabled, maybe set ram current to 110% instead of 100%.

In main AI Tweaker, change only

    *disable Asus multi core enhancement

*cpuv, first test with fixed, later switch to adaptive (dont stress test at this later) and by total turbo voltage set in your stable fixed voltage from before.

*cachev if you're oc'ing it, btw 42x is enough, you can set min 38 and max 42x v 1.150v adaptive and forget about it, but do that after you find you main cpu stability.

    * SVID - disable it, you can see if you hoover over it asus recommends it disabled when OC'ing.

bellow by eventual input voltage set in 1.80v if ~ 1.30v or 1.85v if going above 1.35v.

    cpuv ~ 1.25 - 1.28v is ok @ ~ 1.76v, but only if using LLC - auto, otherwise it might need 1.79v with something like LLC6 - LLC7.

    * by cpu power management (bellow DIGI+ tab) disable iVR fault management

*cpu system agent voltage, like i said before its for build in memory controller and pcie, it will help by stability if using higher oc and with higher system ram, 0.040 - 0.060v+ offset is enough.

*all the way at end disable cpu spread spectrum

when done tweaking this, you can focus on ram speedups,
switch to 1T command rate and bellow disable memory training MCH fast boot - enabled, and full MCH check - disabled.

You can get @ 36gb/s read.. I use to have 35.8gb/s all the time, now after disabled memory training and set all timings manual (from xmp) and the most tight 3rd timing it passed 36gb/s

I done almost 2 hour straight session in WD earlier, I been putting a lot of hours in since I restarted it anyways ..at 4.7 highest cpu core temp was 65C.
I decided to go 4.8 so I set it to 1.3v and it seems fine. :)
4.9 should be easy, 5ghz within reach perhaps.

now 1.32v and a solid 4.8 and temps haven't changed much, if I do 4.9 now I could leave 5ghz for the autumn, ..:D
    WD got a lil better from 4.7 > 4.8 I noticed.
gave the ram a lil more juice too.

At least you got it in without damaging your motherboard. My motherboard has been borked since I installed my Glacer 240L in my Raidmax Cobra... Lost half my ram and changing settings in UEFI does absolutely nothing. I hit the UEFI reset button and it's still running at it's OC settings, even though within the UEFI config screen it shows everything at default. I even tried resetting from within the UEFI config screen and it did nothing.

Nice case, btw. Simple, clean look.

now with current mobo bios (f6), a lil more familiar with bios settings (put in around 3 solid hours between this afternoon and this evening), and 1.38volts i'm sitting at a solid 4.9 and in firestrike extreme i'm so freaking close to 10k I may try the 5ghz again.
with the older f4 bios it just wasn't solid stable.
admittedly current weather sucks for the 5ghz on air.
another thing aa really heats up a cpu I noticed, i'm lucky that I don't use it.

JUst ordered a 4690K and a nice little Asus Z97I-PLUS m ITX board to compliment my 16gig Ballistix tracers and my R9 290 Tri-X OC

Added a plethora of Red LED corsair fans
Thinking about moving up my OCZ Fatal1ty 750W PSU to something higher...

Awesome, defiantly worth upgrading to z97 if your on an older board I think.

I wouldn't bother if I were you unless you're planning to go SLi/Crossfire in the future.

I concur, cpu is what gpu dances on, the slicker the cpu the better moves the gpu can pull off.
basically speaking 750ti is where you could start, 2gb bf4 levolution, or some batman.
