Could this be what fixes Vista for a lot of us? Performance & Compatibility Packs

Episode 1 still crashes.

 

Thought these were release packs, looked on windows update and couldn't see them, no one mentioned they were BETA

 

Is This Original MS beta or not?
Does This Think Make Some Diferrence or I'm Gonna Have BSOD?

Is this updates S A V E ? ? ?

 

These are official BETA hotfixes from Microsoft. That is why you don't see them on Windows Update. Microsoft releases hotfixes all the time that don't appear on Windows Update.

So far there have been no public reported issues with either hotfixes on Vista 32bit. Some people are having issues on 64bit.

 

Strange rivatunner still works fine here.
Oh and file copying is faster now

 

I just simply dont trust that site...

 

I don't just trust any website and try these kind of things anyway.
Works great and I have no problems regarding the disabling of the signed driver feature.
I use Vista Ultimate x64.

 

Anyone got any word on whether these do actually make any impact on gaming performance? Otherwise this is completely irrelevant to this sub-forum.

 

interesting! (you're booting normally without pressing F8 and disabling the driver signing enforcement check, right?)

so, just to confirm, rivertuner64.sys is actually running?
ie if you start->programs->accessories->system tools->system information. is rivatuner64.sys listed under software environment->system drivers and does it say started?

 

I installed this and noticed a slight improvement with Guild Wars.
The textures are sharper and overall looks better. I can notice details on my skill bar better that I never saw before.

Sounds good. There seems to be a lot in these updates, more so than you'd expect; perhaps we're looking at the partial makings of Service Pack 1 here.

The "Improved visual appearance of games with high intensity graphics" is certainly the most interesting, and might totally close the IQ gap between XP and Vista going off what you've said (a lack of texture clarity in games) was the first thing I noticed when I changed from XP to Vista.

 

I Just Install both of them, just for now its all look the same to me!
i don't play games so idon't know about performance at games but Maybe litle faster inside windows. I don't have any problem (32ultimate).
