Just got my first ssd so going to do a fresh install of win 8.1 64 bit
Only going to install bf3 and bf4 when its released.
Which nvidia drivers would you recommend?
Back in the old days there where alot of driver comparisions on the net. Cant seem to find these anymore.

Might want to update your PC Specs so we can see which Nvidia card you have, as this is the Nvidia Drivers Section, not AMD.

This will help users to determine what to recommend.

I myself recommend the 326.80 betas as they have ran perfectly fine on windows 8.1 for me.

Most everything feels somewhat smoother and more responsive in Windows 8 over Windows 7. May be placebo, but the OS itself is lighter, so it should work better in theory. It is definitely not any slower.

It is smoother and doesn't break/slow down over time like Windows 7 or Windows XP. The OS remains in top shape if you install many programs/games, etc. This is why windows 8 is better, and with win 8.1 will be much smoother and better and it will help with performance on Battlefield 4.

And people who say windows 8 is a fail because has metro interface and doesn't have the start button, i might say that either you remain in your windows 7 until microsoft doesn't support windows 7 (probably in 10 years) or you get used to windows 8, microsoft isn't gonna make a classics OS like windows 7 anymore.

Because you have a 60hz monitor, but an 120hz one and feel the smoothness power.

No problem, glad to see your current system. :)

I'd still recommend 326.80 on the GTX 670.

So true, It is faster in 2D by far.

Was that a reply to moving windows on the desktop?
If so, explain me how you have more visual smoothness and power while moving windows on a 120hz display compared to a 60hz.

in windows 8.1 rtm build 9600.
you will get dxgi error I try to use Compatibility mode but not working..

Would it be better to use 8.0 than 8.1 ?
and wait for 8.x later as an update?

BF3 does work in 8.1 BUT the plugin what is required is not compatible with IE11 so cheap and easy fix is to use chrome portable until the plugin is updated and then delete chrome or what ever you want with the browser. just copy paste the url book mark it in chrome and use that to launch the game.

mbm if you have access to TechNet or MSDN I don't see why not to upgrade now as long as you got working drivers its fine

    only issues I have.
-Corsair Link software (USB changes have caused issues but have it working)
-Kaspersky Internet Security 2014 (not ready for Win8.1 MP1 beta should be soon)
-might need updated chipset/usb 3.0 drivers from AMD and asmedia (not an issue so far just unsure)

Im running Windows 8.1 RTM with no problems, 326.80.
Best OS i've ever used, by far.

Battlefield and every other game I tested ran smooth as butter.

After upgrading, my NEC/Renesas USB 3.0 stopped working completely and Device manager showed exclamation marks on the USB (3.0) hubs.
Uninstalling ASUS USB 3.0 Boost solved this. Do you have Asus AI Suite installed?

On topic: 326.80 works fine on my rig.

No I wont install the AI suite as it causes a lot more problems and conflicts with the corsair link software.

BTW has anyone got it to launch from IE11 ?
